Making Our Society Peaceful And Habitable

Society - Do you think crimes committed by ordinary people have increased? Do you think that, as a society, we have become so desensitized that people believe it is acceptable to attack or assault others? Why? What do you think are the reasons why people have stopped respecting others, their rights, and social norms? How do you think we can improve this?

Hello #qccommunity, happy new week.

Crime can be defined as the act of breaking laws and orders established to guide an individual's behaviour in society. When a crime is committed, an investigation is carried out, whether in a workplace, company, or society at large. Depending on the type of crime, investigations, arrests, and interrogations are made to obtain further facts. During the investigation, evidence to ascertain the true picture of what happened is also collected in case there are denials, and the case is charged in court to prove beyond a reasonable doubt.

Ordinarily, I would say that crimes are not channelled to ordinary or high-ranking individuals. Anybody can commit a crime, including teenagers. Again, I can say that it has decreased a bit compared to when we used to hear about them here and there, except for terrorism, which is also being contained.

Recently, the internet has been throwing up issues of spikes of racist attacks here and there. Nevertheless, there are consistent efforts by some NGOs to preach against such attitudes and implore people to a world where people can thrive, speak up, and belong to organisations of their choice without fear of molestation and intimidation. Also, freedom fighters have raised the bar for love and unity in diversity, globally and community-wise, rather than hate speech, complacency, and chaos.

Sometimes, when elections are around the corner, one of their major tactics to curry favour with the electorate is divide and rule. When they do so, they divide the electorate and cause them to fight themselves while they leverage those moments to get the numbers they need to win.

However, often, because of love of power, people tend to trample on others' rights, leading to a chaotic existence, escalating to the breakdown of law and order in society. This sometimes extends to organized crime for revenge. Again, greediness and lack of love can lead to envy and crimes such as stealing and even murder.
Additionally, high cost of living and inflation can lead to crimes such as looting, breaking into food banks to access food, and stealing funds from financial institutions.

Howbeit, things can improve when we learn to be content with what we have, care for each other, and be trustworthy. Again, when the leaders can be trusted to fulfil their promise. That way, the masses will be calm while enjoying the dividends of good leadership. Above all, charity is the conclusion of the whole matter. Do unto others as you want others to do unto you. That way, the world would be made a better place.
