A Statement of Intent: Arsenal Are Ready for the New Season

Arsenal football club which happens to be my favourite football club begins the season on a brilliant note, our victory over Manchester city during the Community shield played between Manchester city the FA cup winner and arsenal the premier League winner was a positive statement, that not only show we're ready for the new season, but that we're prepared to retain the league and as well go after many more silverwares this new season.

I actually wanted us to win and have been hoping we'll do that, but the preseason matches we have played prior to today's match have been nothing short of concerning due to how we conceive goals and can't keep the lead. Seeing all those results, I had thought we were back to our default settings of years back, but then I understood some of these lapses happen due to the friendly nature of the match and how many academic players were given minutes to play against professionals who have been in the game for years. But then we did outstandingly well today, even going on to keep a clean sheet.

David Reya was an outstanding performer in today's games, because the city had a lot of attempts they could have scored with, but he proved his worth once again and showed that winning the premier golden glove for three seasons in a role wasn't a fluke. Had it been another person in the box, we would definitely have conceded and given the city hope of a comeback. I'm also pleased with Bruno Guimarães first official match in an Arsenal jersey. Even though he only played in the first hand, he did an excellent job, keeping both Elliot Anderson and Mateo Kovačić at bay. He was outstanding with his control of the midfield, and I hope this continues throughout the season.

Big kudos to another new signing in person of Christos Tzolis, who had an amazing first official match, calling it up with two wonderful assists for Havertz and Odegaard. Our captain, Odegaard, also had one of his best performances in recent times today, controlling the tempo of the game and being involved in almost all the goals.

I know it's too early to get our hopes high, but I'm strongly behind our team and hope we'll come out victorious at the end of the season, with lots of trophies to cap off the season, hopefully the UEFA Champions League. Let's see how it goes, COYG.
