In a tight match with a slow offensive pace, Mexico edged out South Korea by the narrowest of margins, as the Koreans couldn’t find a way to break through the Aztecs’ solid defense.

Romo’s goal, following a team play, was enough for the hosts to secure their spot in the next round with two wins. For the Taegeuk Warriors, the loss complicates their qualification prospects, forcing them to earn points in their final group match.

Son Heung-min, their star player, was well marked and failed to create the expected scoring chances, although his experience remains vital for the team’s future.

Drama for Qatar

A night to forget for the Asian team. Canada dominated from start to finish and had no trouble defeating the Asian squad, securing its first-ever World Cup victory in convincing fashion.
Jonathan David’s hat trick proved decisive. Believe it or not, Qatar still has a good chance of advancing to the next round if it beats Bosnia on the final matchday. That said, no one is confident of a Qatari victory after what we’ve seen in the first two matchdays.
