North Korea champion in... South Korea

In a historic match played last Saturday at the Suwon Sports Complex, Naegohyang Women’s FC etched its name into the history books of Asian women’s soccer. The team from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea edged out Tokyo Verdy Beleza by a narrow margin (1-0) thanks to a goal by Kim Kyong Yong, who was also named the tournament’s MVP.

The match highlighted North Korea’s defensive solidity, as they managed to neutralize the Japanese attack despite having lost 4-0 to the same opponent in the group stage. Naegohyang completed a flawless run in the knockout rounds: a victory over Vietnam in the quarterfinals and over host Suwon in the semifinals. This victory marks the first continental title for a North Korean club in the competition’s modern era and earns them a spot in the upcoming FIFA Women’s Champions Cup. For Tokyo Verdy Beleza, the runners-up, there is the consolation of having reached the final as a testament to the high level of Japanese soccer.

Al Nassr Celebrates Its League Title

Al-Nassr FC has won its 11th Saudi league title (Ronaldo’s first in Saudi Arabia) after a season in which it clearly dominated the Saudi domestic league. With key goals from the Portuguese star in the final stretch, including braces in decisive matches, the team led by Jorge Jesus clinched the championship. The rivalry with Al-Hilal went down to the wire, but the Yellow-and-Blacks withstood the pressure.

Ronaldo celebrated his first major trophy in the SPL, scoring more than 25 league goals. This success reinforces the elite Saudi project and sets the club up for continental competitions.

Takefusa Kubo Focused on the World Cup
Takefusa Kubo (Real Sociedad) continues his rise as an Asian star. A recent Copa del Rey winner with his club, the “football genius” has been key in attack and is poised to lead Japan at the 2026 World Cup, especially with Mitoma out. At 24, Kubo combines technique, speed, and maturity, attracting interest from major European clubs.

He has had a standout season in La Liga, making decisive contributions, and now faces his true test to take a step forward in his leadership with the Samurai Blue.

It’ll be interesting to see how Japan go in the World Cup. I like their tactics and they are technically very good footballers but I wonder if they are capable of sustaining that high press across a tournament during summer temperatures

The main problem is not that... it's the absences of Mitoma, Minamino, Endo. I'm confident they can reach 1/8 at least
