Much to my wife's dismay, this was probably the biggest weekend volume-wise for college football bowl games. There were a massive eleven games or something like that played this weekend. I actually got to watch a fair number of them and I have to say that many of them were virtual clinics in defense. Sure, there were some high scoring games, but if you came looking for some massive points and things like that, it just didn't happen. At least not with the games that I was watching.

One of the exceptions would be the Central Michigan game I was really looking forward to at the beginning of the weekend. I was hoping that the university just down the road from me would have a better showing, but they got hammered 34 to 7 by Northwestern in their bowl game.

After that we had the New Mexico vs. Minnesota game that went into overtime before the Golden Gophers took home the win 20 to 17. UTSA beat Florida International 57 to 20 in a very lopsided First Responder Bowl.

The next day, East Carolina took down Pittsburgh 23 to 17 in a very defense heavy game. Then Penn State snagged a win 22 to 10 from Clemson in what was probably one of the best games I watched all day on Saturday.

Army beat UConn 41 to 16, and BYU had a thrilling 25 to 21 victory over Georgia Tech. That game would be a close tie for the best game of the day. I was really hoping for a Georgia Tech win, but it just wasn't meant to be. They had the momentum for the first half of the game, but BYU was able to fight back and make a game of it.

Fresno State beat Miami of Ohio 18 to 3, and North Texas beat San Diego State 49 to 47 in a high scoring match up.

Virginia beat Missouri 13 to 7, and LSU fell to Houston 38 to 35 in a game that I didn't bother to stay up late enough for!

We still have a fair bit of college football before the end of the season. The playoff games as well as some of the more prestigious bowl games are coming up over the New Years holiday. Things kick off a little early with Miami taking on Ohio State.

I'll be excited to see how the Big Ten teams do in the coming week. It should be a quite exciting time!

Be sure to tune in!
