Parent should be thoroughly schooled in my opinion on the subject of balance diet, and the importance of food to the body system, they should be informed that eating is not only to satisfy hunger but also to provide for the body basic nutritional needs so as to function properly.
Deficiency in certain class of food may result in several kind of disease including eating disorder.
How can we help a child to develop good eating habit?
Children learn better by example, what they see us eat and enjoy, they tend to follow. Children can also be taught the benefit of eating, the importance of a particular kind of food to your system, what happens when you have little or no amount of it. Children can also be taught through motivation. You can motivate a child to learn to eat what you want him/her to eat. For instance, a child that want to be strong can be motivated to eat a certain that is attributed to body building.
In Conclusion, it is very important to teach a child good eating habit at an early stage in their life, for when you train a child early in a way, he/she tends to grow with such habit. It is advised as parents, that it is your primary job and should be a goal to consciously teach your kids and make sure they understand what “good eating habit” is and how important it is to their health in general, both at an early stage of their life and also how it will shape their lives in future.

True to words most of us grew eating what was available without any consideration to what we are eating at what time, and totally wrong i guess as parent n future parent we now know better

Your mom's philosphy on eating is how most of us were brought up - eat to your fill, regardless of whether what you're eating is a balanced diet or not. I have a very smallish body and although this is likely just my genetics, I want to attribute a part of it to malnourishment of some sort from when I was growing up. Even if this is not true for my case, I am sure it is for countless others, so I am 100% with you on schooling parents on the difference between eating and eating. Lol
True, we ought to be thankful to have gained this insight..lol
