Welcome to another round of our Weekly Spotlight, where we shine a big, bright light on the funniest submissions from the community!

This spotlight is our way of celebrating those comedy gems that made us snort, giggle, choke on our coffee, or literally LOL in public (yes, we’ve all been there). Like I said, the spotlight is to showcase the funniest post for the week; it might come from our weekly prompt or a random post in the community, so come make the most funny posts you can.

Some weeks, we might only have one spotlight post. Other weeks, we might have ten! It all depends on how funny the submissions are, not kinda funny or I smiled internally funny, but bust-a-gut, tears-down-your-face funny. Yes, that kind of funny gets the spotlight.

So, if your post didn’t make it this week, don’t sweat it. Come back stronger, funnier, and even more ridiculous next time. The spotlight isn’t for everyone; it’s earned, not given. 😎

In all my preparations, I didn't fail to ignore my fashion sense. I carefully selected an outfit that would make me look elegant! I already imagined how glorious I would look standing in front of a large audience, but what I ignored was how tight the dress I selected was holding me tightly from my shoulder down to my chest. I waved it off; after all, what is fitting without a dress holding one firmly? I whispered to my inner self. But then reality came knocking when I carried the mic, singing down the glory of God among the congregation.

But when I tried to wear it, wahala! The zip got stuck halfway, refusing to go up or down. I struggled with it like it was a fight for my life. Then as I was twisting around, trying to fix it, I heard the worst sound. The seam at the side just gave up on me. I stood there looking at the mess in shock, thinking, “Is this a joke?”

I froze immediately after I heard the rip, I was not expecting that blunder to happen in the public space like that filled with beautiful faces of people from across the country. Should I leave, he'll no, I can't because I still have a lot of activities ahead. Should I go to mami now to fix it, o boy, that is another extra mile walk coupled with the outrageous amount. I was having these thoughts in my head. That was how I decided to stay, moved to one side to get from fresh air and gather myself together again.

When I bought and tried them on, they were well fitting (tight) and well behaved in front of the seller. Little did I know.... they were rejects. I got home, all bubbly. "I got the Kenya uniform," my mind wouldn't stop chanting and I couldn't wait for Saturday to wear them to church youth practice. You know, to show off I had new pants, haha, so foolish and innocent. I got there early, they really had to notice. I wanted to suggest every dance that we would use the next day, to get in the spotlight. And then the light shone so bright that bam!

It's not like it's a must to dress to kill, but I'm sure we all understand the Nigeria vibe and how everyone wants to seem important and like they've made it amongst their old friends even if they're struggling, so obviously there's no big deal in being yourself, since being open can give room for others to help you. Well, all my excitement before the party disappeared on my way to the location when I was boarding a motorcycle, popularly known as an okada. While the bike was moving, it fell into a pothole, and that led to my trousers tearing around my crotch, meaning my boxers were exposed. It was painful because I couldn't go back home to change, and neither was there a tailor shop around to quickly amend it.

Then it happened. I felt it.
A soft breeze… where no breeze should be.
I looked down slowly like in those horror movies when the character knows they shouldn’t look, but they do anyway. And there it was my zipper wide open, smiling at the entire world like it had been waiting for this moment its whole life.
