It's a new week in the Splinterlands universe. A new episode of the Discovering Abilities series and we come, in this edition, to review number 42. After analysing Tank Heal last week, we now analyse the Taunt ability and we will do it with the earth deck and the interesting card Mycelic Slipspawn. A new skill review begins. Let's get to it.

This week we go with a rare card from the earth deck. Mycelic Slipspawn is a very popular card in this deck for several reasons It's a high mana cost card but it brings two attack points which becomes 3 with Obsidian and with the Taunt ability it can take all the opponent's attacks and let the rest of the lineup do their job penalising the enemy. If we can surround Mycelic with a powerful line-up that Taunt ability can give us an interesting advantage.

Esta semana vamos con una carta rara del mazo de tierra. Mycelic Slipspawn es una carta muy utilizada en este mazo por varios motivos. Es una carta con un alto coste de maná pero aporta dos puntos de ataque que pasan a 3 con Obsidian y con la habilidad Taunt puede acaparar todos los ataques del rival y dejar al resto de la alineación que hagan su trabajo penalizando al enemigo. Si podemos rodear a Mycelic de una alineación poderosa esa habilidad Taunt nos puede dar una interesante ventaja.

This week's skill is a rare skill. Very few cards in the Splinterlands universe have it. Only 12 cards are chosen to have this ability. All decks have two cards with Taunt except for dragon and neutral, which only have one card. The legendary Agor Longtail in the dragon deck and the legendary Coeurl Lurker in the neutral deck. However, both of them have it already in their initial level of evolution.

La habilidad de esta semana es una habilidad rara. Muy pocas cartas en el universo Splinterlands cuentan con ella. Y es que solo son 12 las elegidas para contar con esta habilidad. Todos los mazos cuentan con dos cartas con Taunt salvo dragón y neutral que solo tienen una carta. La legendaria Agor Longtail en el mazo dragón y la también legendaria Coeurl Lurker en el neutral. Eso si, ambas la aportan ya en su nivel inicial de evolución.

Let's go with the contribution that Taunt provides us with in our strategy. As I said in the introduction, a card with Taunt will cause all of your opponent's attacks to be directed at this card until it is removed from the battlefield. An option that will allow us to use a strategy in which the rest of the cards punish the opponent.

Vamos con el aporte que nos proporciona Taunt en nuestra estrategia. Como ya decía en la introducción, una carta con Taunt va a provocar que todos los ataques del rival se dirijan sobre esta carta hasta que sea eliminada del campo de batalla. Una opción que nos va a permitir una estrategia en la que el resto de cartas castiguen al rival.

This week's battle will take place on my secondary account. A weak account that I use to try out new strategies and keep learning things in the game. My strategy will be simple. Put as much magic power in play as possible to try to take advantage of the bonus that Obsidian gives to this type of attack. Mycelic will go second to give Unicorn Mustang time to hold the tank position and stay in play as long as possible.

La batalla de esta semana se va a desarrollar con mi cuenta secundaria. Una cuenta débil que utilizo para probar estrategias nuevas y seguir aprendiendo cosas en el juego. Mi estrategia va a ser simple. Poner en juego el máximo posible de poder mágico para intentar aprovechar el bonus que proporciona Obsidian a este tipo de ataque. Mycelic irá en segunda posición para dar tiempo a que Unicorn Mustang pueda aguantar en la posición de tanque y mantenerse en juego el máximo tiempo posible.

My opponent this week is playing a dragon deck with several interesting cards from the life deck. His strategy is going to be more successful than mine and, although Taunt is going to give me precious time to counter his line-up this time will not be enough and the battle will end in defeat for my team. There are still things to improve on this account with the green deck.

Mi rival esta semana pone en juego un mazo dragón con varias cartas interesantes del mazo de vida. Su estrategia va a ser más acertada que la mía y, a pesar de que Taunt me va a dar un tiempo precioso para poder contrarrestar su alineación este tiempo no va a ser suficiente y la batalla terminará en derrota para mi equipo. Aún hay cosas que mejorar en esta cuenta con el mazo verde.

Taunt is a rare skill in Splinterlands and a really useful one. I'm not saying anything new when I tell you that Mycelic Slipspawn is a staple card in my earth deck. Taunt is an ability that I use in most battles that involve the green deck and there is a sufficient amount of summoning mana available. I rate Taunt a 7 out of 10, which makes it one of those basic abilities to keep in mind in all of our strategies.

Taunt es una habilidad escasa en Splinterlands y realmente útil. No descubro nada nuevo si te cuento que Mycelic Slipspawn es una carta básica y fundamental en mi mazo de tierra. Taunt es una habilidad que utilizo en la mayoría de batallas que involucran al mazo verde y hay la suficiente cantidad de maná de invocación disponible. La nota que le doy a Taunt es de 7 sobre 10 lo que la colocan como una de esas habilidades básicas a tener en cuenta en todas nuestras estrategias.
