🐶 Do Pets Dream Just Like Humans? My Thoughts and Experience

When I saw this week’s theme “PET’S DREAMING”, it inspired me to reflect deeply on my own pets and those of my neighbours. I began imagining and comparing the behaviour of pets to that of humans, trying to find out if pets truly dream just like we do.

Pets are very sensitive domestic animals with a sense of reasoning and recognition. Every pet has the ability to recognise its owner’s identity, even in the midst of many people. They can listen, hear, and recognise the voices of those they live with, and they respond to their calls differently.

Pets possess some characteristics similar to humans, and that’s one of the reasons I strongly believe that they can also dream.

Take cats, for example: they are great hunters. They can target, catch, and even eat their prey. And dogs are truly special domestic animals. One amazing thing about dogs is that they not only recognise your voice and identify you in a crowd, but they are also very expressive. If one of their owners is returning home, dogs often get excited — shaking their tails, running toward the person, and giving a warm welcome.

I’ve come to understand that dogs can even interpret spoken words and are excellent in securing their environment, especially their owner’s home. They can sense danger and quickly alert people by barking.

I believe pets dream because their memories work just like ours. Sometimes, I notice my pet switching its legs, moving its tail, or breathing calmly while sleeping. Maybe it’s dreaming about its delicious meal, or a wonderful moment spent playing with other cats and dogs. It might even dream about how its owner cares for it, just as humans dream about their daily activities.

And Of course, it’s also possible that pets have scary dreams — like running away from something that frightens them. Whatever the case, I’m sure pets have dreams too, filled with emotions, thoughts, and memories just like ours.
