Custom-Built With Sass || Designing My Future Child

(edited)

If I was given a chance to custom-design my kid's genetics, best believe I'm locking myself in a lab and putting ALL my creativity and critical thinking abilities to the test. Oh well, that might lead to me overthinking each step.

Well then, we already have one trait I definitely don't want to give to my kids: OVERTHINKING, lol.

Hello there, I hope you're having a lovely day?
I'm Mide and this is my entry to the SMP Prompt.

✧ ──────────────────── ✧ ──────────────────── ✧

Let's be honest, if given the chance to curate my offspring's gene pool, ha ha, I'm surely going to spend days fishing out the bad ones because trust me, I was a stubborn kid (let's keep this between us, by the way. Don't want my mum to read me admitting it).

I wouldn't say stubborn per se. Just the usual teen rebellion, plus I had my own way of thinking. My desire for freedom was STRONG. And I know I shouldn't, but I blame that on the zodiac sign.

Now, back to the topic. Let's talk behavioral traits first. Honestly, I'd be making the world a better place if I cloned my best bits into a mini-me.

I'm going to put the curiosity trait in my child. That “I need to know why this works, what’s under it, and why can't we do it this other way instead?” kind of curiosity. It’s the reason I got a science degree and can still talk your ears off about digital marketing while developing a website using HTML, CSS & JS.

Another selection from the gene pool will be empathy. Somehow, I'm the therapist, relationship, lifestyle & femininity coach for my friends (seriously, I'd be a millionaire right now if I got paid for every advice and ear to listen that I've given). But, I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm lucky to have been blessed with the ability to genuinely and actively listen to people, make them feel seen and heard, while also inspiring them to unlock the higher level of their potential.

And trust me, the world doesn't need another emotionally detached genius. So mini-me will have that heart and love.

Another one is confidence. As for me, I had to go through rigorous character development and plot twists to earn mine, so if I can just pass it to mini-me genetically and have them come out of my womb with full-on Rihanna's aura, I'm absolutely doing that.

Now, let's talk Phenotype.

Oh goodness, my child is going to be visually elite. I'm talking, "can't stop staring" kind of elite.

Skin Tone? Hair? Eyes? Smile? Height? Nails?

These are some of the physical traits I have that earn me the most compliments, so yes, I'm engineering these into them, lol.

Talk about engineering, I have to mention genotype too. This is where my science degree shines. Because, best believe, I'm giving these kids a heterozygous advantage. The type of genetic diversity that gives you good systemic immunity and less risk of inherited diseases.

They're definitely getting my blood group and genotype because, don't we just loveeee the O-negative and AA combo? Yes, yes, we do. As much as I hate my metabolism (because it's making it really difficult for me to gain some weight and actually look my age), I'll give it to them, too. Because trust me, they're going to enjoy looking fit without trying.

Also, the gene that helps me function on 5 hours of sleep and flawless sarcasm? I'm giving them that too. I want my children to be able to charm their way into and out of any situation (although that might backfire on me as their mother).

This was really fun to imagine and write about (I invite you to join the prompt as well, you'll enjoy it).

Honestly, it'll be really nice to have children who can take the best of my positive traits and those of their father's; however, how then will they learn? They say the best teacher is experience. And I know for a certain fact that as much as parents want to shield their children completely, it's important to allow them to make mistakes and fix them. That's how they learn themselves.

Even at this big age, I'm still getting acquainted with myself, still learning about myself, still discovering things. And that's what keeps life interesting.

Despite all my flaws, I believe I'm still much of a positive influence on the lives of people around me and the society at large. So, with or without genetic engineering, lol, I'm certain that my kids will be a better version of me in their own unique ways.

Even if they end up being quiet and shy, I'm certain I'm gonna have one that'll at least be bold, sarcastic, and way too charming for his or her own good.

These pictures prove just how rebellious they might be, because how did I end up 2 ladders high, walking a rope? And my mum's at home praying for her daughter's safety, ha ha.

Thank you for reading! 🧸🧡

I don't really believe zodiac sign has an effect on how we behave, don't think we should blame zodiac signs for our behaviour.
