Emotional intelligence is good, and it's one trait everyone should have because of the wonderful impact it plays in how we speak or react to situations. Not everyone is emotionally intelligent, and that's why we often see people speak provocative words out of emotions, speaking anyhow without caring how it affects other people around them. That isn't the right way to do things, and that's why we often encourage people to work on their emotions and be able to manage them effectively, and in light of that, I'll be talking on these topics in my opinion, so without further ado, let's get to it.

So, to respond to the first prompt question that asked us to talk about how emotional intelligence influences communication and relationships in today's world? I'd like to say that emotional intelligence affects both great and diverse ways, one of which is how it helps people understand their emotions and know when and how to react calmly to situations that they would have responded harshly to had they not had emotional intelligence. Another way is how it helps such individuals to be empathetic, thereby being considerate of what the other person is going through and how negative words or actions from them could lead to more devastating outcomes, thereby abstaining from speaking or being more compassionate with their words.
Emotional intelligence is also vital in relationships and communication because it helps one come to the understanding that it's important to do more of listening than talking, and when you do that, you'll obviously and most definitely avoid misunderstanding that comes through misinterpretation. It also goes on to strengthen trust between such parties and overall gives such people with those traits the ability to handle conflict in a more decent and matured way.
On the other hand, when we talk about why self-awareness is a key part of emotional intelligence, it's because it gives people the ability to recognize their own emotions and how they mostly react to things, which are their weaknesses. Having vast knowledge about these and being able is the key factor that'll help you control your emotions to the point where we can say you're emotionally intelligent. In a nutshell, self-awareness is the ability for one to understand oneself, and when you can do that, it'll be quite easy to communicate better with everyone around you regardless of how tense the atmosphere is.
