Mistakes are wrong doings people make that can be dissatisfying to others. One thing I've come to reason is that we all as humans are capable of making mistakes and so for that reason, I won't agree with the take that a single mistakes should define a person. Since we all are capable of making mistakes and it's not always intentional, regardless of if it's a simple or serious mistake, I think everyone deserves a second chance because that mistake doesn't automatically define who they really are. So in light of that can we then say everyone deserves a second chance or not?

The fact that I said a mistake shouldn't define a person, doesn't mean we should pretend like what they did wrong doesn't matter. One thing that shows sign of remorse and clarity that someone deserves a second chance is when they acknowledge the fact that they did something wrong and not just that, but also take full responsibility, even if it comes with consequences, apologizing is one important thing to do, being able to say I'm sorry is good, but it must comes with the place of genuine act of remorse and the desire to learn from that mistake and change for good.
Alot of people make mistakes or terrible decisions because of different reasons such as immaturity, ignorance, anger and even inability to handle situations properly, and with the realisation that humans are capable of growing and transforming their personality, we should be willing to give them a second chance, because at the end of the day who haven't made a mistake through the years till date? Time is a factor that can bring about change when they are willing to reflect on their decision and make better ones, then we should give them another chance and to be willing to guide their steps and decision going forward. The truth is that if we don't give second chance but judge people based on their mistakes, then most people today won't have an opportunity to become a better version of themselves.
The fact that I say pepper deserved a second chance doesn't mean they should continue to get chance upon chances and keep on messing up. When you get another chance, you ought to show signs of remorse and obvious desire to change and really change in what you do. Because you forgive someone and gave them another chance doesn't mean you'll keep getting hurt from their inability to change and that's why we must set boundaries and know when to stop giving them a chance if they refuse to change.
Mistakes is part of almost everyone journey, but that doesn't mean it should be their identity, people learn from their mistakes and become a better version of themselves, majority of investors we've today don't just got what they invented in one try, they made lots of mistakes, but never gave up and that was what brings about the success we celebrate them for today. So in the light of that, everyone deserves a second chance and their mistakes shouldn't be be tagged as their identity.
