Imagine seeing an advert about a brain chip which can help you have a good retentive memory and you will get it for free, will you go for it without having a second thought? It seems funny because I have thought about it multiple times, back in school, when we had a lot of topics to cover during exam periods, it is always frustrating when we had to read same page multiple times just for it to stick in our memory, also back in junior secondary school, I will even cry if I read something and couldn't recall it, at times I will turn it to songs just to be able to remember it in class, it was really tiring and if I had been the memory chips back then, I'm very sure I would have opted in without giving it a second thought but
Right now it is a big No for me since I'm a little exposed to the science world and I know the consequences that might come with the Brain chip idea. I once read it somewhere that Memory is like a source for humans, a foundation of our identity, without it we are nothing, we won't even know who we are but somehow it isn't built to perfection because we get to forget things most of the time but with the brain chips which suggest a perfect memory as an advantage, will it make us more human or less human? Do you know the hidden reasons why they might have created these chips in the first place, what if they only want to keep controlling you. I have watched some robotic sci fi movies where a certain individual created robots with the hope of helping humanity but at some point, certain people were jealous of the achievement and decided to tamper with the robots. Most of the time, they tampered with the memory by corrupting it or redefine it just to gain full control of it.
And what if it isn't a memory chip but something else, a ticking time bomb which can explode anytime they want, you will always view the creator as a mini god. But to be honest, do we really need a memory chip, when we know the right thing to do is to stay focused and be disciplined when it comes to doing things that can help you in getting a good memory especially when it come to sleeping and eating healthy food. I don't think we need any memory chip because most of the time, the consequences are way bigger than the benefits attached to it

I've found that the best way to retain any information is to read to understand and not just to memorize. That said, I think there's little need for that kind of chip. There are even humans who were said to have photographic memories and they could recall every book they had ever read in their lives, word for word.
There will definitely be consequences, allowing people okay around your brain can be really dangerous.

Honestly, for me, I don't think we need any memory chip, there are many ways to remind and retain knowledge...
Our human memory is what defines us and makes us unique. I would definitely refuse a brain or memory chip even when it is offered for free because I don't the consequences I would have to face in the future, having the chip in my brain.
