The Silent Sea | Is There Really Harmless Water In The Moon

It has really been a long time since I started admiring the moon. It is one of the wonders of nature that we appreciate God for. I used to think it was just a round ball hanging in the sky when I was little, and the way it glows at night, especially during the full moon, made me wonder if the moon was full of water, which might one day burst on us. But when I started learning more about the moon, I realized it was more than just a hanging ball. According to science, they say the moon is waterless and full of dry land, but in 2009, they discovered water ice, which is hydroxyl and very similar to the water we have here on Earth. The question that popped up was whether it was drinkable, safe, and not harmful to humans until I came across a particular movie titled The Silent Sea.

Apparently, the planet Earth had suffered from a drought where there was a scarcity of water. While searching for a solution to this drought, they sent some scientists to the moon to conduct research and an experiment on some water they found there to determine if it was harmful to humans. Unfortunately for them, something killed all the scientists. It was a disaster, and the common symptoms were similar to drowning—like they had drowned in water. But how is that possible if they didn’t get lost in the sea? So they sent another group to retrieve the water the previous researchers had found. One of this new group was a curious scientist (an astrobiologist), someone who studies the origins of life and beyond. This lady had also lost her sister, who was a researcher in the first group. When they landed on the moon, driven by her curiosity, she demanded that they conduct some investigations. However, the group leader neglected her until one of them died unexpectedly, also showing drowning symptoms. Then, a small survivalist girl in the station was also killing and preventing them from taking any water away from the station.

Apparently, when someone else died, they realized the water they came to retrieve was the main problem. It acted like a virus that never dies or hibernates, but comes back to life immediately when introduced to a host. The catch is that this water, if just a drop enters the body, will start multiplying like mitosis, where cells divide into two identical cells. This water multiplies in a way that it consumes the host and won’t stop until the host dies. In this case, the host keeps spitting out water until they drown. Somehow, the girl who was preventing them from taking the water was a survivor. She was immune to the water, and instead of it killing her, it healed her.

Now they had to take both the water and the girl back to Earth for further research. However, they had an invader among them with another mission: to kill all the researchers and retrieve the water for an opposing group. In the end, things didn’t go well, and the rest of the team almost lost their lives in this quest.
