Heavy Rain Fall Issues.

So sometime last year, there was this heavy rain that fell in my area , like, it rained non stop and before we could even understand what was happening ehn, everywhere was already flooded, Like serious flood o, It was the kind of flood where you will look out your window and just see water everywhere, no road again, just plain water.

I did not even see it coming, I mean, yeah it was raining, but we did not expect it to get that bad at all, see the gutter was already blocked from all the dirt people have been throwing anyhow, and that just made everything worse, that day ehn, people’s houses got flooded, shops were soaked, and some people even lost their things , things like mattress, clothes, foodstuff, etc. Some people were even scooping water out of their house with big buckets , It was really something else and painful to watch

As for me, that day I just tried to stay indoors, tgere was no way I could go out, even if I wanted to, which road would i pass? The water was just everywhere, like...... So i just stayed inside, prayed the water would not enter our own apartment and tried to keep things elevated just in case.

One thing I noticed is that people in my area were helping each other, Like some men came out to try and clear the gutters so that the water could flow, It did not do much that day because it was already too late, but I really respect their effort.

Since then, anytime I hear heavy rain is coming, I try to prepare myself ahead,I raise things in the house, make sure nothing important is on the floor, I also started telling people to stop throwing trash inside the gutter, Like, that small thing causes big wahala when rain comes.

If I am to give any survival tip to someone going through flood or something like that, I will just say that they should always be prepared , Don’t wait until the flood reaches your neck before you start looking for what to do ehn , keep your documents in waterproof bags,and do not leave important things lying around, and if the flood is too much, abeg find somewhere safer to stay, even if it is for that night.

Honestly, that experience just made me think, sometime we do not even know how serious natural disasters can be until it just hits us directly , see flood is not a small thing o ,at all, It can sweep everything just like that, and there’s nothing you can do. We just pray God helps us.
