I was stuck in a cycle a while ago that I now realize was driven more by frustration than direction. I was involved in a multi-level marketing (MLM) scheme, convinced that it was the shortcut to my success. But the real success came not from quick money, but from slow-paced curiosity - which led me into the world of Web3. Looking back, I realize how curiosity became my guide, guiding me away from false promises and toward a more transparent and empowering future. Like many people, I wanted to do something meaningful with my life and earn a good income. I had dreams of freedom — financial, professional, and personal. When I came across MLM, it seemed like a perfect opportunity. The presentations were slick, the success stories inspiring, and the promise of "earning while you sleep" was too tempting to resist.
I joined, thinking I was stepping into a world of entrepreneurship. But soon, I started noticing the cracks. Most people weren’t making real profits. The "business" was more about recruiting than selling value. It was always about pushing others to join under you. I kept thinking, "Why is everyone in such a rush?" The pressure to perform, recruit, and earn — quickly — was intense. It didn’t feel natural. While I was still involved in MLM, I began hearing whispers about something called "Web3." I had no idea what it meant. Some people said it was the next evolution of the internet. Others talked about blockchain, cryptocurrency, NFTs — all of it sounded technical and confusing. But something inside me lit up. I didn’t try to understand everything at once. I simply followed my curiosity. I started reading articles, watching YouTube videos, and joining free Telegram or Discord groups. I didn't have a plan. I wasn’t chasing money anymore. I was just genuinely interested.
The deeper I went, the more I realized that Web3 wasn’t just about technology or money — it was about values. Decentralization. Transparency. Ownership. Community. Unlike MLMs, where everything seemed top-down and controlled by a few people at the top, Web3 was bottom-up. Everyone had a voice. Everyone had ownership. In MLM, I was just a small cog in someone else’s machine. In Web3, I could be a builder, a creator, a part of a movement. That difference struck me deeply. I began exploring decentralized finance (DeFi), where no middlemen were needed. I learned about NFTs — not just as collectibles, but as digital proof of ownership. I discovered DAOs (Decentralized Autonomous Organizations), where people collaborated without a central authority.
In MLM, I was constantly pushed: “Bring two people by next week,” “Hit this rank by the end of the month,” “Close deals fast!” But in Web3, nobody cared how fast I moved. It was okay to learn slowly. It was okay to experiment. There was no one-size-fits-all success path.I started contributing to small projects — translating content, helping with social media, testing apps. In return, I received tokens or small payments. It wasn’t much at first, but it felt good because it was honest work, based on skills and contribution — not promises. Leaving MLM wasn’t easy. I had invested time, energy, and money. But slowly, I stopped participating. I let go of the pressure and stopped trying to convince others. I didn’t want to sell a dream that I no longer believed in. In Web3, I felt like an explorer, not a victim. Every day was a chance to discover something new — a protocol, a token model, a governance system. I wasn’t following someone else’s script anymore. I was writing my own story. Today, I’m still learning. Web3 is vast and evolving. I’m far from an expert. But the journey feels honest. I’ve started freelancing for crypto projects, writing blog posts, managing communities, and even testing beta apps. Slowly, my earnings started to grow — this time, based on real work and knowledge.Curiosity taught me that slow is not weak. In fact, slow learning builds strong foundations. I might have taken longer to understand blockchain or DAOs, but now that I do, I can make better decisions. I know what I’m supporting and why.
