Hello, beautiful people! Welcome to my blog. It's a pleasure to have you in this space. Once again, welcome π€
The adage "everything that has an advantage surely does have a disadvantage" is also relevant in the social media space. While the social media space has really changed the way we connect with people, interact, and share information, we must also acknowledge its dark side.
In the early days of social media platforms like Facebook, I remember after completing my secondary school education, I was so excited to join because, apart from calls, this was the only way to reconnect with old classmates and schoolmates. For a very long time, this was a tool we were using to stay in touch and share pictures. And this isn't because there was no negative news about the impact of Facebook then, just that it was minimal. However, over the years, social media space has evolved, and its impact on the mental health of most people, not just adolescents, is becoming disturbing.
The fact that many social media platforms don't have a way to regulate the age groups of people that access their sites is also disturbing; on most sites the only option you get to see is to click on the "I am an adult" option to access their sites if you are above 18, and you don't expect kids that want to explore and are curious to just turn and leave the site, so they click on the "I am above 18" option. Because of this lack of regulation and oversight, this has sadly led to situations where even young children can access mature content, which has potentially harmed their mental health and well-being. We have a lot of depressed and broken kids walking around because of the influence of social media.
In today's world the influence of social media on the mental health of adolescents is a pressing issue. Because they are always glued to their phone, watching and reading the lifestyle of some people they admire, this has somewhat led them to having unrealistic comparisons, low self-esteem, and anxiety.
While social media has many benefitsβwe have heard of how people met their spouse there, it has provided opportunities/jobs, and so on. However, it is very important for parents and guardians to know the negative impact it has on adolescent mental health and find ways to educate them about the potential risks and consequences of social media use. I am very sure if most kids get to hear the side effects of social media space even before they join it, it will, to a large extent, help them develop healthy online habits and reduce its negative impact on their mental health and general well-being.

For real, people are glued to their phones. Do you believe that there are some parents who forget the important things they need to do for their kids all because of how much they are carried away by social media?
That's sad
Adolescents are always glued to their phones, which is very bad. These things often have bad side effects on them. They easily get influenced by what they see on social media.
Absolutely
Thank you
