Caught in the act.

Let me start with a story. One day, a lady closed late from work and was rushing home because she had to prepare dinner for her family. On her way home she saw that the butcher's shop was still open so she went in. She asked the butcher if he had chicken and he affirmed (though he had only one left). When she asked to see the size of the chicken, he brought it out from the freezer, and placed it on scale with his thumb slightly pushing it down just so that he will charge her more than what its worth according to the weight. Seeing the weight of the chicken, she asked if he had another one and he said yes. He then removed the first one from the scale, put it back into the freezer, and brought that same one out again, repeating the same trick. Then the woman asked him to pack the both of them for her. That is when it dawned on him that he was about to lose a customer, but most importantly, his reputation.

I think the story has already given a hint of the importance of honesty. In as much as we keep hearing the word "white lie", honesty is always better, but should be practiced with great wisdom. Matter of fact, the only legitimate alternative to honesty is silence. Yes. Because what you don't say is better than lying. And with one lie, the door becomes open for several others to come in.

In every kind of relationship, honesty is extremely important. We should also try our very best to avoid situations that would put us in a position that we will have to lie to get out of. Because a lie can seem smart that moment, but one has unknowingly started knitting a web that can tangle them is they don't chose honesty before it's too late.
