If digital ghosts were a thing...

(edited)

I've never been one to believe in ghosts. I think ghosts are just stories told to make people scared. The idea of a digital ghost sounds interesting though. I'm thinking it would appear on my computer and my phone. So it would be quite awkward to see a ghost while using my devices.

Before I go on to talk about digital ghosts let's talk about normal ghosts. I think ghosts are known for being visible to only a few persons. Sometimes they are not visible at all but one could fill their presence. I'm saying this from things I've probably watched and read.

I've seen movies where ghosts move things. Sometimes they move things such that it appears that those objects are moving on their own to the normal human eyes. I think that's one of the scary things about ghosts in addition to the fact that they can hunt you almost everywhere you go.

Now, speaking of digital ghosts, it would be really interesting to see. I think digital ghosts would have control and access over devices like computers or phones. So this means they could have access to your files, videos, and documents. Some of these things could be sensitive and that's the worrying part about it. I mean what if you turn on your laptop and it doesn't obey the command you give it. Maybe you're trying to open one software and another software opens. I think that's something a digital ghost can do.

It would be worrying and concerning especially if perhaps it's the ghost of someone you know. I think the next step would be to find a way to cast it out. I'm thinking about ways a digital ghost could be taken out of a computer.

Perhaps one way could be to flash the computer entirely. Maybe that could just wipe out everything in the system including the ghost and traces of it. That means I would lose my important documents in the process, but that's a price to pay. Maybe there could be some security system installed to prevent the ghost from re-occupying the computer.

Be that as it may, while the digital ghost sounds fascinating, I wouldn't want one in any of my devices. My devices are mine and mine alone.

I don't think I will be scared if I see a digital ghost. I would probably just freak out. But then it will be my mission to ensure that that ghost goes away.

I know some people would get scared and never use their device again. They would probably destroy or burn it just so they can get rid of the digital ghost. But as someone who doesn't get worked up about ghosts, I think I'll find a way to get rid of the digital ghost without having to jeopardize my devices.
