This topic happens to be a simple yet very deep one, talking of something as simple and as deep like desires. Desires happen to be very powerful and can either make or mar an individual. Desire is so powerful that it can do and undo, it can build, it can drain, and it can as well destroy. Just too powerful to be contained in words. But it's something that will always and definitely show in our lives.

Now, talking of healthy desires, healthy desires are the kind/type of desires that will push one forward to be and to do better. Healthy desires will take away your joy, you have your focus and you keep moving towards it. It gives you peace of mind and allows you grow. Just like a time when I do desire to be on my feet and doing things, that desire hasten my recovery and helped me to as well start doing things for myself.
And about unhealthy desires, I don't know if to generalize it, but I want to believe we all have been a victim of unhealthy desires. That feeling of never getting satisfied, of always comparing ourselves to others and losing both our peace and joy in the process, that's definitely the work of unhealthy desires. I've been a victim of this too, comparing my journey to others, looking at those that are doing well and progressing so fast in life while I remain behind seeming as if I'm not even doing anything at all, and that feeling brought huge pressure on me.
So, I think the difference is crystal clear, and it's something you can see, pinpoint and address by yourself, unless if you don't just want to be truthful to yourself. When you're not experiencing peace just know that that desire is unhealthy, as it's not one to be nursed. The former(healthy desires) helps you to grow and help you build step-by-step, while the latter(unhealthy desires) takes away your joy, peace by making you feel behind in life.

you are right, desires can either make or destroy. Everything made or achieved in life began with a desire. It is up to up to choose how to use our desires for good
