Some decisions I made in the past taught me lessons I still carry with me today. sometimes, making the right decision doesn't mean making the easiest one.
There have been moments when my heart wanted one thing while my mind was telling me something completely different. And honestly, I've learned that neither should always be ignored.

When I look back at some of the most difficult decisions I've made, three of them stood out;
leaving a job, distancing myself from a difficult family relationship, and walking away from a friendship that was no longer healthy for me.
None of these decisions were easy anyway.
Leaving my job meant stepping away from something familiar and facing the uncertainty of what would come next. I was afraid, but I eventually realized that sometimes growth requires us to step away from what is comfortable and make room for something better.
And distancing myself from a parent was perhaps one of the most emotionally difficult decisions. Family is important to me, and I don't believe every difficult relationship needs to end with anger or resentment. Sometimes, creating a little space is simply a way of protecting your peace, gaining clarity, and learning how to have a healthier relationship with yourself and others.
Walking away from a friendship was also difficult. When you've shared memories and experiences with someone, letting go can feel like losing a part of your past. But I learned that not every friendship is meant to last forever, and sometimes letting go is necessary for both people to grow.

These experiences taught me that choosing yourself doesn't always mean choosing against someone else. Sometimes, it simply means recognizing what you need to be healthy, peaceful, and whole.
When faced with difficult choices today, I try not to rely solely on my heart or my mind.
I listen to my heart because it reminds me of what truly matters. I listen to my mind because it helps me consider the consequences.
Sometimes my heart says, “Hold on.”
My mind says, “It's okay to let go.”
And somewhere between the two, I try to find the wisdom to make the right decision for the person I am becoming.
Those decisions didn't make life perfect, but they taught me about boundaries, self-respect, courage, and the importance of choosing peace.
Thanks for stopping by today..
This was a really honest reflection. I especially liked how you explained that choosing yourself isn't always about choosing against others, but sometimes about protecting your peace and becoming better.
