Growing up, we all had one dream or another that made us want to do better academically at every level of our education lives so we can be what we dreamt of becoming but somehow, at some point we diverted from those dreams as a result of different circumstances we faced. Maybe we grew up to a point when we started telling ourselves not to deceive ourselves and just face reality or we just found another dream that we felt was way better than what we thought was better. I was a victim of those who just couldnāt bring their career dreams to reality (I think there is still a chance but Iām thinking of letting it go but Iām ready to take a leap of faith if the opportunity presents itself).
I once lived in a place filled with so many children and I remember that some days we will just gather outside trying to act like either doctors, teachers, farmers and the likes. It was fun. At that point, you could see the passion a lot of us put into acting those roles to the best of our abilities and it was superb. We did so well and I guess thatās because there was no one who was going to judge us for not playing our roles well and because it was all for fun. From those little career plays we had, most of us chose our dream careers based on how well we performed but then, the moment we got to the level of education that requires us to chose that career path, we felt defeated.
Personally, Iām not so good at reading a lot of things. Iām very poor at preparing for examinations and all. My childhood dream was to be a lawyer because I saw a lot of people being oppressed with no one to defend them. I was so determined as a child but I got to the point where I had to face the work of becoming a lawyer and I was totally defeated. I was sad but there was nothing I could do about it. The school system doesnāt give anyone the time to adjust so I thought to myself, Hope itās time to move on and face reality. Every professional lawyer we see out there is as a result of the so many books they have read and even written. It wasnāt something easy at all.
Yes, most of them cram a lot of things and thatās one of the areas Iām also very poor at. I knew this about myself and I opted for out. Moving on, I loved farming and being a food manufacturer of any sort so I thought to myself, maybe agriculture is the next best thing to study in school. My reason of wanting to be an agriculturist was because I wanted to always be of help to those who donāt have anything to eat. Well, along the line, I saw agriculture as something that I can still do even without going to school to study for it and then I said I should think of a different career path. And that was how I thought about becoming a nurse which also didnāt work out because my brain refused to accept it.
Now, Iām in school studying human physiology which I find really interesting and just the perfect blend of everything I wanted. Itās still a bit hard to study for but I feel more motivated to give studying more time and effort. I have a lot of plans after school to learn different skills and read more books for fun and not academically. I have noticed that I feel lazy once a book is tagged as a school book and it makes me lose so much interest in it. So, hopefully after school, I can start exploring other areas and fields to understand at least the basic things in addition to what I have studied in school.
Thanks for reading through. ā¤ļø
Childhood dreams change sometimes but that doesnāt limit us.

Thatās right. š«”
You had lots of dreams but couldn't achieve them due to one challenge or the other. Well, human physiology is also a good course to study. But you also have to change your mindset that your brain can't take certain things. You just have to put your mind into anything you wanna achieve and go for it with courage and you will definitely learn it.
Youāre right. I always like learning but not for exams. I love learning to know and not to pass exams but then, thatās not how most school systems work. I know I can be brilliant but according to school standards, Iām part of the least, lol.
Thanks for your thoughtful comment. ā¤ļø
I understand š. Reading just to pass an exam can be exhausting šŖ

Growing up as kids with so many things we dreamt of, so many things we thought we could be until we grew up to face a different reality.
Guyyy! The reality was harsh but we faced it regardless and Iām so much grateful for where I am now. š¤²š„°
Itās good you are studying a course you finally are enjoying, law could be a lot to grapple with indeed. My younger sister studied law and doesnāt even want to practice. Her passion is singingš
Wow, I can relate with her not wanting to practice it. Going to school to study some courses just changes the whole experience for most people, lol.
Thanks for stopping by, Ma. š„°
