In the world that we live in today, almost everything we do is science. Even though who do not know anything about science still do it indirectly. It is not necessarily for you to be a science student before you do anything scientific.
Anything I think about science, I do not think about textbooks, mixing or chemicals in the lab, lab coats or scientific instruments. I think beyond those things because what I do picture is the oxygen we breathe in, sunset, sunrise, the movement of the sky, rising sea level. To me, science is beyond those things that our teachers thought us back then in class, in fact to me, everything we do is science and that makes it the root of our existence. From the smallest thing on earth to the heavens of the galaxies, there is a link between everything. And without amplifying this much further, and without no iota of doubt, I will say that: science is everything and everything is science.
As you are reading this post, take a look around you, your system, your phone, your bed, the electric bulb In your room, your fan, your refrigerator, your hot plate, your oven, the road you walk and drive on, the drugs you take as medication, your AC, all these are scientific innovation from someone who asked the important question:· What if I do this?
In my country and in other countries of the world, there is no doubt that science has reshaped what is impossible to what is possible. The smart phones that we use which is powered high tech components gives us easy access to a lot of things and to connect and chat with our loved ones both far and near. The ability to forecast the weather to protect lives is now possible. Most of us can be easily checked the weather forecast on our mobile phones to know when it is safe and not safe to go out. Even something as simple as cooking is a chemical and physical process at work.
A lot of areas of science to amaze me but the that captivate and interest me the most is the solar energy. The surprising part is the idea of how the sun which is at the center of the solar system with the temperature of about 5,772 Kelvin — and miles away can easily generate electricity to power out house, cars, offices, schools. Isn't that amazing to behold?
For instance, in my country where electricity is now luxury, the only hope some of us have is the solar energy with a flat panels that we place on our roofs to generate electricity—it is a hope embedded in science. I can bodily say that having a solar energy system is more sustainable than electricity in my city.
Science is limitless and boundless and this is what makes it so beautiful. Like I said earlier, you have have to have the knowledge of science, be in a science lab to feel the work and act of science. A tailor using a sewing machine is science, a breastfeeding mother using a milk pump is applying science, a journalist broadcasting new to thousands of people through the media outlets or radio stations is applying science and a farmer using different tools to aid and fasting his farm work is practicing science. So tell me what you do not need science for in this our generation? Science is not just for the educated, it is for all and sundry.
Now let me talk about how science has freely given humanity a healing hand when it comes to medicine that we all use anytime our body needs it, and the honest truth is that it has given a lot of people more time to live, laugh and love. From surgical procedures to antidotes to vaccines that has cured a lot of infection, saving many lives.
I will also say that, science can be said to be our innovative thinking that is brought to reality. Just take a look at some of the things that used to be science fiction back in those days that are things we use in world today—talk of the rechargeable cars, self driving cars, robots, flying cars, AI and so on. Science is now a dream and imagination brought to life.
Science has never stop growing, we keep seeing new innovations everyday and it has never rejected anyone because there is a lot of space in the science world for you and I whether you are curious learn about science or someone who is just amazed by science.
So yes, everything we do is science, from the food we eat, the electrical gadgets we use, the movement of water, our heart beat, and how rain falls. Science is our past, it is out present and it will be the ultimate future.
Science is immortal. And this is what I love about it.
What do you love about science?
