Spending with Implications

Spending money is something we do, one way or another. From the diversity of needs we have, there's a necessity to spend on such things that we require. Ranging from food, clothing, and shelter, which are necessities in life, to other needs or wants that are important to us or otherwise. So, we strive to make money. To at least be able to spend it to afford the things we need or desire in life.

How we go about spending money is rather a major concern. Spending on what matters is one thing. Spending on what one feels they want or desire is another thing. These things make up a person's spending habits. These habits go down even to one's daily spending. In the long run, these habits have an effect on a person's finances, which can be for good or for bad; all boiling down to the habits inculcated and lived by.

Sometimes, my mind draws me back to times in the past when I didn't make judicious use of some money I had. These were moments that the right attitude would have done me a measure of good. Well, there are things you won't be told a lot about but would have to know somehow. I won't say I was a reckless spender, but that isn't a way out totally. Cultivating good and positive spending habits, especially on daily concerns matter a lot.

One of the things I consider as part of the answer to this is discipline. Currently, my daily spending habits are influenced by a level of discipline. But discipline doesn't just come out of nowhere. It comes from intentionality and positive desires. This is actually the big bridge to cross in developing a good financial character. It has been one thing that influenced spending habits on a daily basis; from what I want to what I need, and affecting my finances as a result.

Having a plan, even in the roughest form helps check my spending habits. It might not be perfect or go that well, but it gives a sense of direction and focus on where and what to channel my money to. In the least way, it ensures my spending is accountable and necessary. But of course, there are unforeseen circumstances, and taking out funds to address such isn't wrong as long as it's necessary. I might not be making these plans daily, which I don't really do, but for a month or a week, and it helps.

I've mentioned needs and wants. And I must say they constitute major factors in what my spending habits on a daily basis or beyond look like. Some time back, I was getting into spending that wasn't aligning with my plans and wasn't agreeing with my consideration of needs and wants. Somehow, I was trying to get what I just desired even when it wasn't wise and was against my budget. I had to look back at what my needs and wants are, my plans, and I had to dig deep down to discipline and make necessary adjustments.
