Life's Essence: Journeying Into Purpose and Fulfilment

This might not be talked about loudly, but it's a silent discourse, a concern and question that is reiterated loudly in our hearts and minds. What's the purpose of life? Why am I alive? Why toil this hard when I could be called to the great beyond? Why struggle so hard for some success to be left behind? What's the guarantee I'll make it? Why all the sacrifices?

Such are some of the loud questions that pop up in the silence of thoughts. And honestly, at one point or another, these are questions that need to be considered. It makes one examine and see what is really required as it pertains to life and its essence.

What's the essence of life then? What's the point of it all? Many times, our lives could feel like a routine, a running around in circles, and that could be the beginning of frustrations and the questions that tend to set in. It could feel worse when life as a whole is perceived in this sense; an endless cycle of no destination and purpose.

It's the thoughts about such and the prevalent pressures of life that could make one imagine if this was what living at all. If going out in the morning and coming back late, and doing it again the next day, if moving from one job to another was all worth it and necessary? Sincerely, when it comes to questions and concerns about our sojourn in life, there's a lot; of ‘whys’, ‘ifs’, ‘whats’ and the likes.

The more one thinks about it, the more it could seem difficult and impossible to comprehend why. I remember having such thoughts at a point in life when I was younger. I thought and imagined why we had to pass through time here and then go to the life beyond. So, what's the point of going through the process of life, growth, and education?

I got to understand better. What I can say today is that we didn't just come into life to pass through time or let it pass through us. Rather, there's a purpose, configured inside of us that needs to be unlocked and lived. That, I find or consider as the essence of life, as the journey of life, as the reason we keep on pushing and hustling.

Let that be the motivation for why we live. If it were to be about money, wealth or acquisitions alone, then, we sit and think or reflect, we could see that there's nothing more to life, since we would eventually leave all of ‘these’ behind. One of the dilemmas of life.

How about a lasting legacy? Something that trascends us, that could stand as a monument for us, in little or big ways since we know we'll vacate this space one day. So, I guess the essence of life and the hustle we put in all should be heavily towards fulfilling the purpose etched on our lives by our creator-God.

When this is the motivation and the focus, then even in times that life feels tiring or seems funny, and the questions and thoughts begin to set in, we'll find the needful and relevant answers to give back. Yes, purpose is what would make life essentially beautiful and worthy of our efforts. The big deal then is left for us, to find out what that purpose is.

A good legacy is much more important. Purpose shouldn't be about financial abundance or material things, it may happen that he doesn't get enough of it and end up struggling for the rest of his life.

Great post!✨

That's really true. Such a person could end up not seeing the worth and meaning of life, as it should be.

Thank you very much. I appreciate your comment.

Life is indeed beyond making money. This was the statement I made to myself some days back. I was wondering why I felt empty even though I had a certain level of result.

I understood better then that, when you are not living a purposeful life, you will always be empty no matter how successful you are. This is where the frustration of the rich stems from.

Thanks for putting out this amazing piece.

Absolutely true!
I had my share of thoughts and feelings on such as well, that strengthened the conviction within me that there's more to life than making money. And if we make tut our ultimate goal, then we'll never be fulfilled.

You're right. That's indeed where their frustrations streams from.

Thank you very much. I appreciate you taking time to read as well.
