Electricity Supply: How It Looks Like Here

The issue of light; electrical power supply, is one thing that has remained a problem and a complaint over time. Even the upcoming generation has gotten to know this issue that their parents and grandparents have known; that is, don't trust the supply of electricity, if you do, do so at your own peril because certainly, they've learnt to cut hopes short more than they cut the power transmitting wires.

At times, I try to reason this, like should the people working in these power supply companies be blamed, or is it the company and the system that should be blamed? I've seen, or perhaps heard of hilarious stories where even at the local area offices of these companies, you would find them using generators for power supply. What hope then does the general public have?

If there's a system, or sector that the masses have lost hope on is the power sector. It's unfortunate that for a nation that supplies electricity to a neighbouring nation－to the extent they celebrate uninterrupted power supply for over a good period－still suffers to do the same for its citizens. You could feel in some way that this is all a deliberate act, a systemic failure.

By virtue of this, many people have resolved to other alternatives. For the most part, many use generators, powered by premium motor spirit (PMS), and others with better economic standing turn to solar power for electricity supply in their households. And I must say that such resolve towards solar power is more appealing, since we have a good amount of sunlight here, and then for clean and sustainable energy's sake.

Growing up to a point, the narrative and experience about the awful nature of the electricity supply remained. I vividly remember a certain time when I would come home for several holidays, but I wouldn't always come across electricity. We just managed to charge phones and moved on with it like that. There had been a transformer issue, or something I guess. It wasn't a new thing.

Now, the hilarious part of this painful experience is when it's said that a transformer was stolen. The last time I heard such－a friend told me some months back－it sounded hilarious and I couldn't help but chuckle. Like, how does an active, operational and mounted transformer get stolen? We wondered. But yes, that's not a new story. Though it hasn't really happened in my area, it has occurred in other areas.

Fortunately, I find myself today in an area where the supply of electricity is commendable, if not outstanding. Yes, it's a bit of a surprise to hear of such. Don't get it twisted though, I don't stay in a GRA (Government Reserved Area) or in one of the areas predominantly occupied by the elites. I'm just a fortunate fellow, in a fortunate area, enjoying the fortune of a good electricity supply.

The use of a prepaid meter seems predominant here. To some extent, it feels best. I reckon with that because for a good light supply of virtually a complete day, the power company would end up extorting you, were you to be using a postpaid connection. While the electricity supply issue remains valid, true and a concern, some good fortune must have located us here.
