Computers are an important part of my life.
When I first heard the word computer, I was in class five. At that time, I only knew that it could be used to play games and watch movies. Later, when students learned to use computers, I realized that it is actually a machine that can do many things. Now it seems that many things cannot be imagined without computers.
A computer is an electronic device that works according to the instructions we give (input), the data system processes (processes) our results (output). I am even further away, it is divided into four main parts: input devices (keyboard, mouse), CPU (processor), memory (RAM, hard disk), and output devices (monitor, printer).At first, my head would go crazy when I heard it, but now I will go ahead and say it.
When I first read about computers, I learned that a lot had been discovered about them. At first, they were very big and slow. My computer has improved from high-level to now. Today's laptops are many, fast, and much faster than mobile phones. What I liked the most were the aspects related to artificial intelligence (AI), which have made today's computers so much more powerful.
I started learning computers in class nine, when a desktop was bought at home. At first, I only wrote in Microsoft Word, practiced typing. Then I started learning Excel, PowerPoint, and later the programming languages Python and C by watching YouTube. When I first made a small calculator program, I felt that I could do something big in the future.
Computers and the internet together have helped me learn a lot. I learn various things from YouTube, websites, and free online courses, including programming, graphic design, and even English typing. I feel that the computer, along with the internet, is like my own teacher. Many times, I have learned a lot through these two mediums without going to tuition.
In my eyes, computers are now something that is used almost everywhere. I see computers running through POS machines in schools, colleges, offices, banks, hospitals, and even shops. During the Corona period, I saw how education is going on through online classes, Zoom, Google Meet. That's when I realized how much computers have actually become a part of life.
Once I thought, why not make a small software? Then I made a time calculator using Python. Although it was very simple, it felt like a big achievement to me because I made it myself. Later, I also made a simple game where the user has to match numbers. Such small projects teach me how to solve problems.
I want to be a software engineer in the future. So from now on, I am trying to learn as much as I can. Sometimes I also visit freelancing platforms, see how others are working. I know that this path is not easy, but I want to learn patiently. If I practice regularly, maybe one day I will be able to create my own software or app.
Computers save us time, increase our knowledge, and provide a way to earn money. But I think that overuse is not right. I used to sit in front of the screen for a long time, and my eyes would hurt. Now, I don't take a break for 5-10 minutes every hour, and I follow the rules when using the computer.
The computer is not just a device, it has become a great companion in my life. I use it to learn, work, entertain, and prepare myself for the future. I think that if we use it properly, computers can bring about a huge change in our lives. I want to be part of that change myself.
