The Value of Honesty
We live in a world where many people find it hard to be honest with others. I have had encounters with quite a number of dishonest people, and honestly, you can hardly escape it as long as you mingle with people on a daily basis.

Some of the most dishonest people I have encountered are business people, artisans, traders, and people involved in different kinds of handwork.
The worst part is that dishonesty has become a norm to some of them. You give someone a job, and instead of simply doing the work well and earning their rightful payment, they begin looking for ways to steal your materials or make more money than originally agreed.
Then when you catch them or see through their tricks, they get angry and call you stingy. The irony.
Just yesterday, I was taking a stroll around my new location when a man who also lives around there approached me. We had been seeing each other around, so he asked if I had just moved into the area.
I said yes, and he asked where I lived. I described my house to him.
He then told me that he produces paint and could also help me get someone to handle my painting work. I decided to test his honesty.
I asked him how much he sells a big bucket of satin paint.
He said #70,000.
Immediately, I got my answer.
I bought the same type of satin paint for #64,000 last month. When I told him, I guess he didn’t expect that I already knew the actual market price.
His explanation was that the one I bought was probably produced in bulk, while the one he would produce would be specifically for me.
What a funny excuse. 😂
I simply asked him why he expected me to leave where I usually get the paint cheaper just to buy a more expensive one from him.
Right there, I knew I couldn’t deal with him.
There is even the possibility that he doesn’t produce paint himself and simply wanted to act as a middleman between a paint producer and me.
Anyway, his dishonesty just cost him a potential deal because I was actually willing to give him a chance if he had passed my little test.
Sometimes, trying to make extra money through dishonesty can make you lose an opportunity worth far more than what you were trying to gain.
Honesty might not always make you rich immediately, but dishonesty can definitely make you lose valuable customers.
