The Ones Who Truly Matter

You can spend 99 days being there for others, offering help, lending support, giving your time and energy without a second thought. Yet, on the one day you focus on yourself… the day you can’t give… that day becomes the one everyone remembers.

It makes you question your own heart… whether helping people is even worth it sometimes. Because in the end, the moment you stop showing up, you may still be labelled the bad person, no matter how many times you sacrificed for them before.

Why do people choose to remember only the bad you did, and forget all the countless good you have done for them?

There is a family I always showed up for because I knew their financial situation. Whenever they needed help, I gave what I could. Over time, their requests grew, first the mother, then the daughters. They even started asking for school fees and textbooks, which I had to turn down, though I still helped with small things like feeding. Eventually, it became overwhelming, and I began saying no.

One day, one of the daughters saw me on the street and turned away, pretending not to see me. Before, she would have shouted my name and greeted me warmly. But the moment I stopped giving, I was no longer relevant. It makes me wonder, do people only want and respect us for what we provide?

Most people wonder why they had so many friends when they were rich, but the moment the riches are gone, no one visits or wants to be around them.

Most people wonder why they had so many friends when they were rich, but the moment the riches are gone, no one visits or wants to be around them.

That is the true nature of humans; most stay only for the benefit, and when the benefit stops, so do they.

It took me some time to truly know people for who they are, and the experiences I have gained have taught me who and what to prioritize.

I am now at a point where I put myself and my family first, and everyone else comes after. I have stopped trying to please others, knowing that when misfortune strikes, no one will be there for me except my family.

The person who stands by me in my toughest moments also deserves my care and attention when things are good.

Sit, think, and ask yourself: if something bad happened to me today, whether sickness, financial crisis, or any hardship, who would truly stand with me? Those are the people who deserve your love, attention, and priority right now

We tend to know human nature as we progress in life. Not everyone actually show true love; it’s only when they are receiving from you but the moment that stops, they stop respecting you, too. That’s how they understand human relationships, though. Always wanting but not there to actually care, not for what they want but for who they actually should be on a normal day.

Yea, many humans are like that , we still have genuine people though just that they are few ... self priority saves us from those who want us for what they get from us .

People will always remember the day you could not do the usual but forget the days you were up and doing for that very thing.

That is sad but it is the world we live in

people will always change i never forget that, truth us people only stick close cause of what they can get out after that it's nothing....

only value who values you cause in the end its just you

Yea most people do this, they stick to those they can benefit from, amidst the bad eggs, we stil have people who cherish friendship and love the person not what they can get from him or her.

And I agree with you, do for who do for you .

Definitely

It's better to love one self and family ahead of others. Thanks for sharing.

This is a big concern because it seems people would only respect you for what you give. The day it stops, it's another thing.

The last paragraph strikes a deep question. Who indeed would stand for us? They are the ones who really deserve such.

Reason why we must not over do

Life is dynamic, so many people to love and be friends just for the benefits they get from an individual, once those benefits are no longer flowing, you will know their real character. That is the world they found themselves in. That is the reason why we need to build our boundaries. Build and give when it is necessary. Thank you for sharing.

Yea, boundaries and limit is necessary.

This is a mind-blowing piece sir....
And it's true, most of us humans only stay for the benefits, and when nothing is no more forthcoming, we find our way..
