If there are no jobs, Why are we paying more Taxes?

I have always heard about the word Taxation theft but it has little to no effect on me because even though I pay tax, it is little to the extent that I don't even care about it...

The government charges 50 Naira on every transaction above 10,000 Naira from the sender in my country, which can still be avoided by sending the amount in multiples of 9999....

Last year, our president declared a new tax law, which subjected all citizens earning above 800 000 Naira annually to pay. The amount you earn determines the percentage you will remit to the government.

I find this so annoying cos why would a country and government that didn't provide jobs for its citizens be demanding a return of a certain percentage in their income? There is literally no sense in that!

Many of the citizens are worried about this change, which becomes effective from Jan 1, 2026, and everyone is just thinking of a way to escape it, but then our government has all this planned from the beginning; this is why they put a stop to cash flow and started the cashless policy... Then the bvn is another way to make sure all citizens comply with their rules, as there is punishment for whoever refuses to pay...And I believe their way to punish those who try to evade tax is by freezing their bank account.

They have been taxing our fathers, but now that the world is going digital and they have no access to people's money, they decided to come up with this, which allows them to tax what enters our bank account, and unfortunately, we still can't do without banks.

I think this new tax law may not work because it will be hard to figure out what someones real income is, you can't tax people for every money that enters their account, that makes no sense and citizens can start lying about the money that enters their account, you will start seeing description like 16 million naira for food, who use 16m for food lol.

I was bothered at first, but at this point, I don't care anymore, and I expect chaos in the country at the end of this year, 2026. Nigerians are suffering and angry, removing money that is not enough to take care of themselves, without providing a means to earn the money is taxation theft, and it won't be taken lightly... Citizens are going to protest!

I can't imagine giving 20 percent of my income to the government when God the creator of the universe and the Giver of Life only demands 10 percent.
