I saw a post on Instagram about a hospital where they use torchlight because they cannot afford to get a generator. That’s not good and it’s not safe for patients there.
After my research, I found out that there are so many so caled hospitals where they do not take electricity in healthcare seriously which is costing the lives of their patients.
Benefits of electricity in healthcare
• Successful surgeries
Surgery needs electricity because it has to do with you removing something out of the human body and every part of the body is linked to one. If there is electricity, we will be able to remove the thing safely without any complication.
Now, imagine that they are using a torchlight, it may result into something else because they won’t see clearly what they are about to remove.
Prevention of accidents
It may be late at night when a patient wants to take a walk in the hospital. If there is no light, such person may fall and that may lead to something else.
We basically need light to see and that’s why it’s important to have adequate and stable light for people to see and for every part of the hospital to be visible.
Life support
Will you believe that there are some people who were in coma but because the hospital doesn’t have electricity, the person is assumed dead and that’s how people like that got buried alive.
But a good hospital like that needs electricity in case of coma and to even nebulize patients who are having breathing problems.
Aiding communication
We’re in the twenty first century and it will not make sense for a patient to be shouting while trying to call the nurse or doctor but if there is electricity, a call will be placed through especially those landline phone.
We can never underestimate the power of electricity in healthcare. Also, I’ll advice everyone to only take treatment in hospitals that they have stable and constant electricity in case of emergency.
Indeed the importance of electricity in health sector can never be overly emphasized reason being that electricity is life. Mere seeing the light bulb lit alone is calming and soothing. I cannot even imagine someone battling with their life at the hospital and having to deal with blackouts, heat and mosquito bite.
