[TV] My Royal Nemesis [K-Series].

This K series took me on a full rollercoaster of emotions, from laughing so hard in the beginning to being confused out of my mind by the end.

The story follows Kang Dan-shim, a cunning and ambitious woman from the Joseon dynasty who becomes infamous at the royal court for her manipulation and scheming, Eventually the king she served sentences her to death, and just when you think that is the end of her story, she wakes up centuries later in modernday Seoul, inside the body of a nameless actress named Shin Seo-ri, so basically, a Joseon-era villain gets a second chance at life in a completely different world, and she has no idea how any of it works.

The first stretch of episodes were honestly some of the funniest Kdrama content I have watched in a long time, Watching Seo-ri, who is really Dan-shim underneath, try to navigate modern Seoul was hilarious, she does not understand technology, she does not understand modern social norms, and everything from ordering food to using a phone becomes this whole comedic event, I was living for the fish out of water trope here, it never gets old for me, she also had this whole thing with spending money on sweets and food and constantly running out of cash, which made her feel so real and relatable despite literally being from a different century.

Then there is Cha Se-gye, the ruthless modern day chaebol heir who ends up crossing paths with her. He is calculated, cold, and used to controlling every outcome around him in business, but Seo-ri, or should I say Dan-shim, is the one person who does not play by his rules, mostly because she does not even understand what his rules are, their dynamic starts as pure clash, enemies who cannot stand each other, but slowly it turns into this really compelling connection where she realizes he might be the only person who can help her rewrite her fate, and he realizes there is more to her than he expected.

The two main actors, Lim Ji-yeon and Heo Nam-jun were great together, their scenes were perfect together they had a mix of funny and serious moments and I always looked forward to seeing them together more than anything else happening in the plot.

Now here is where I have to be honest, because the second half of this drama took a turn I was not fully ready for, what started as this fun, lighthearted fish out of water story slowly folded into time travel complications, past life reveals, family intrigue, and murder plots, I did not mind the story getting more serious, dramas are allowed to evolve, but the way everything piled on top of each other made it start to feel less like the show I fell in love with in the beginning.

And then there is the ending, which honestly is where I struggled the most, I did not like how it ended with her going into a coma while he was still at the hospital, waiting, and everything just felt so rushed and unclear at that point, I remember watching that part and just feeling confused, like I had to rewind and rewatch scenes to understand what was actually happening and what it meant for both of them, It did not give me the emotional closure I wanted after everything they had been through together, after investing in their whole enemies to lovers journey, I expected the ending to hit harder, to feel earned, and instead it left me with more questions than answers.

I also think part of my confusion came from how quickly the story tried to wrap up so many threads at once, the time travel logic, the past life connections, the family drama, and their romance, all within the same final stretch, it felt like too much was happening too fast, and the emotional weight of the coma scene got lost in trying to explain everything else going on around it.

But even with all of that, I do not regret watching this drama the first half was great it made me laugh and I loved watching Shin Seo-ri and Cha Se-gyes relationship grow, it was all worth it, all of that gave me genuine joy while it lasted, sometimes a drama does not need a perfect ending to still be worth the time you invested into it.

If you like stories, about reincarnation and romance and characters who have chemistry you might like this drama it is still worth watching.
