I love me a court drama, a complicated scene and an unexpected end of a story... This movie gave all of that and it gave me just the right feeling I appreciate after I see a movie of this genre. By the way, this is obviously another part after the first movie "God's Not Dead" which I reviewed two days ago. I shared it has five parts.
If you're yet to see the first part or at least read my review, you might want to check it out. But it was about a college boy who is challenged to stand for what he believes against his lecturer, a professor who believes God is dead. The second part is not far fetched but refreshingly different and inspiring, a story about standing for truth too.

I like that the story of the character, Martin Yip (starred by Paul Kwo) continued, showing how he has so many questions about his new belief considering that they had introduced us to his father who obviously didn't give his son or family any reason to believe in any god. It is like learning from the ground up and being disowned by his father didn't stop him from making a decision.

The main story is about Grace Wesley (starred by Melissa Joan Hart), an history teacher at a university who is asked by Brooke (starred by Hayley Orrantia) a question that gets her into a big trouble with the school and the court. Grace finds herself having a lawyer to defend her case as she goes against people who are sworn on making her an example to others not to preach Christ or push their faith to others. She is tested.

If this movie has a character I'll call the villain, it is Peter Kane (starred by Ray Wise), the lawyer representing the school against Grace Wesley in hopes of teaching her a lesson for answering a history question with reference from the Bible and destroying her life through the court's power so the school have no daint on its name. But his plans proves difficult as every court scene gets heated and twisted to the unexpected for him.

Every character seem to be aware of what they need to do, that is right, but the distractions of what people will say or do holds them back. Not for Grace, Brooke and Martin, the three are holding strong on what they believe in their little way while remembering to commit everything into God's hand as they should. I mean, it got so bad before it got good, it reminds me of how God works. Staying silent when the test is ongoing.
The movie was released in 2016, two years after the first and I'll recommend you see it from the first part before this one. I'll make out time to review the subsequent parts as I am curious how they spin off the title for different storylines.
