[Movie] "Sing" Review: Each Character, A Story Unfolds

I don't know how I forgot that I've seen this beautiful piece, an animated movie that gave me just what I love to see in a story... Music and singing. There is like so many things about this movie I would like to write on if I had the chance but I'm choosing to focus this on the part that matters most to my experience seeing the movie.

The story is amazing actually but one of the reason I think it came out so good is that, every main character that came on stage have a backstory that any viewer would be interested to know how it ends. So the background information about this movie is, it was released in 2016, 1 hr 48 mins long, about music and family. Okay, a bit of an overall "Sing" story is...

In an animal kingdom, a Koala who's had a dream to own a big music theatre decides to open a big competition for every animal to participate. His dream comes to pass when he meets both the amazing and the troublesome animals who show interest to compete in the biggest music competition ever. Now, for the each character.

Buster Moon starred by Matthew McConaughey

I'll start by saying, Buster is the heart of the story and I mean, without Buster, the story will not exist in the first place. He's the dreamer who won't quit, optimistic, dramatic and of course, reckless but it all paid off eventually. His love for the theatre since childhood, his hidden struggles, his strong belief in people and his confidence is top.

Rosita starred by Reese Witherspoon and Gunter starred by Nick Kroll

Even though they are two very different characters in personalities, I must say they bring more realistic stories to the viewer with their background, especially that of Rosita... A mother of many kids but with a big dream. Gunter is just that character you can not stop laughing when he's on screen, always fun, loud and full of ideas.

Ash starred by Scarlett Johansson

One of the characters who brought a real and raw performance to the competition, Ash's backstory is heartbreaking because she had always relied on her boyfriend until the braakup and she begins to find her voice, her identity and own what is hers. I'll say she brings in the energy and attitude the whole story needs to get viewers vibing to it.

Johnny starred by Taron Egerton

It's amazing how each character's story have a different feel and I say this because Johnny's story feels more on the emotional part than the others. He wants to be better than the life his father chose but struggles with guilt and pressure. I felt inspired by his story, reminding me that choosing a different path takes courage.

Meena starred by Tori Kelly

I think Meena is my most favourite character in the story because I got captivated by her voice right from the first song (a birthday song) she sang before she joined the competition. She is quiet, calm and full of fears with no confidence in herself... She had so much fear that when she finally sings freely, it felt like a victory for me too.

Mike starred by Seth MacFarlane

The last but definitely not the least, the proud, stylish and honestly, very annoying Mike. He thinks he's the best and even though he is talented in what he does, his pride gets him into trouble often. His character added more humour and tension to the story, it's just what we needed.

Overall, the movie is a good one if you're interested in a musical animated movie. There is a sequel to the story and I'll try to share my thoughts on that too, maybe also focus on each character, it seem fun this way. Do check it out.
