[Movie] Dinosaurs & Danger: "Jurassic Park" Review

I can still recall how a book I read some months ago made this movie sound so exciting and worth seeing because of the premise it focused on about the story in the movie. I'm still not a fan of movies like this if I am being honest and it's because I don't appreciate being scared while trying to relax but I got a bit used to it on this one.

Like I said, the movie was recommended to me by a book I was reading. It explored a part of the story that intrigued me but other things came to play as I continued to see the movie. One thing was clear though, the progression of the action of the characters seemed familiar to what I saw in the last similar movie I saw, "Jurassic World".

That is, the confidence in control to loss of control and then, unexpected loss of lives. It felt too familiar that I could almost predict what next which isn't supposed to be likely for an adventure and sci-fi movie such as this. In any case, I enjoyed the little differences and especially, a part of the story highlighted to me by the book.

"Jurassic Park" is a 2 hour plus dinosaur adventure and sci-fi movie released in the year 1993, starring Sam Neill as Grant, Laura Dern as Ellie, Jeff Goldblum as Malcolm and Richard Attenborough as Hammond. It's a very old movie so all the characters have changed a lot since this movie was released. Sadly, some are dead.

About the story, Hammond is an billionaire and industrialist who invites some experts (Paleontologists, Grant and Ellie, mathematician Malcolm) to visit his theme park of cloned dinosaurs which he secretly owns. Even though he assures them how safe it is in the midst of these animals, it soon became unsafe even for his grandchildren exploring with these experts.

The story took a fast turn after a power failure and a reckless worker (a very annoying character, I must add) made move and caused the dinosaurs to go free and hunt for their food themselves. I couldn't keep my eyes off the grandchildren of the owner of the park. They were like opposites of each other which made their part of the story interestingly crazy to see.

If you've seen the movie, you'd remember how Grant tries to rescue the children from getting eaten up even at the risk of his life. That is the part of the story that drew me in from the book I read, the transformation part of the story that involved Grant, Ellie and the two kids they met.

Considering the fact that Grant dislikes children but Ellie, his fiancee is hoping that they will have their own kids someday, it was not a surprise how he first treated the two kids they went on the sight seeing with. But slowly, it became an exciting surprise to watch his transformation from a guy who dislikes kids to one who would lay down his life to make sure the kids are safe, loving them. I totally get all the book was saying.

Still, I'm not a fan and I don't think I'll want to see a movie like this again especially if there's every chance that it could have similar storyline. Let me know if you've seen it. If you haven't congrats!
