[Movie] Assassination Couple: "Mr and Mrs Smith" Review

This movie wasn't recommended to me, I think I hit the download button because of the title and then I read through storyline when I came across as I was browsing to find another movie. There's a Nigerian movie I really loved long time ago, the title reminded me so much of that movie and my first thought was maybe I'd like this one as much.

Then I read the storyline and it turns out to be nothing like the one I had seen before but instead, it piqued my interest more on how they would pull off "having two assassins being married without knowing who they are in secret" and "having two couples kill themselves in order to protect what they've always been protecting".

"Mr and Mrs Smith" is a comedy and action movie released in the year 2005, starring Brad Pitt as John Smith and Angelina Jolie as Jane Smith. The story opens with John and Jane in a counseling session, trying to tell the story of their marriage starting from where the first time they met. The story then takes us back to the start.

Fully married because the spark and chemistry was so strong, John and Jane begin to be distant from each other even though they are in the same house. While John keeps acting like he's a contractor working somewhere meanwhile he's an assassin, his wife Jane is disguised as a lawyer at a firm but getting assassinations done.

In an assignment, which they both happen to take on and get it done around the same time, they discover they are not who they say they were. Their companies give them the only option as it had always been for assassins to have their cover blown, and that is to kill each other. They begin to wonder if their love was ever real before.

In the many silly and well planned out attempts to kill each other, they both get a clear chance but figured they couldn't bring themselves to kill each other. The chemistry there was high, they realise how much they actually love each other and they decide to work together against their agencies which isn't an easy feat as they discover a truth.

Turns out their agencies found out first that two rival assassins are married without knowing who they are and they set a bait for them to find out and kill each other. The long fights and then, the attack from both agencies gave the movie really heated scenes but quite unrealistic considering how the couples won over that much of a crowd.

I'm not much of an action movie fan and I actually think the movie had more to give than it gaive, like a better story development of the main characters because on their own, they didn't leave much impression to viewers but yeah, their chemistry together felt good enough. It's no wonder they got together in real life around that time. Well, it's a good movie and I recommend it.
