I watched a science-fiction that took me on quite interesting ride. The Creator caught my attention because of the whole futuristic setting and also whole idea of humans going into war against artificial intelligence. And one thing is that, in our present generation, artificial intelligence has become part of our everyday lives. This particular movie reminds me about other Sci-fi movies , the likes of Blade, Runner, District 9, and also Star War. But that does not even stop me from enjoying this particular one, like I was curious to know how the story will play out. The Creator came out in 2023 and was directed by Gareth Edwards.
The story is set in a future where humans are at war with AI because an AI-related nuclear explosion destroys Los Angeles, and then the United States decides that AI must be wiped out at all cost. But Asia has a completely different approach, they embrace AI. So watching a movie where humans are literally at war with AI makes me think about how far technology could go. And currently, Almost everyone is practically using AI.

The Movie stared John David Washington who played Joshua. He’s a formal military operative and he was recruited so that he carry out mission to and destroy the powerful AI weapon. His mission took him to New Asia where Human and AI live together, and In the process Joshua discovered that the weapon he was sent to destroy was actually a childlike robot. Her name is Alphie and the character was played by Madeleine Yuna Voyles. So from the moment Joshua met with Alphie, his mission become somehow complicated than he expected. I guess his emotions changed everything, and he find himself protecting weapon he was supposed to destroy.
Talking about the performance of the characters? Like their performance was really good. When it comes to John David Washington , I can say that he did a solid job as Joshua, and Madeleine too? She surprised me with how she naturally handled her role. Allison Janney on the other hand too also brought the intensity that her character needed, she was really good. But one thing is that, I would have loved a little more depth from some of the characters, because there were things about their motivations that I wanted the film to explain better, but anyways, the performance was still a banger!

Yeah, I’m going to write more about Alphie, the AI girl , She was actually one of my favourite character in the movie. I enjoyed watching her interactions with Joshua, and I think their relationship they had together is one of the things that gave the story an emotional centre. Like seriously, there were moments when I genuinely felt for Alphie, like I want things to work out well for her and Joshua while traveling through the dangerous world. Their relationship also made me think about how people can become easily attached to something they initially taught they fear. Just like Joshua meeting Alphie.
And again, I love the movie because it made question the way we human being treat things we don’t really understand. It’s clear that we are the one who created AI, we are also the one who gave Ai its ability to think and function, and at the end of if all, we started to be afraid of what AI could eventually become in the future. Like I was wondering whether we humans are truly protecting ourselves or we are simply reacting out of fear? I can’t really tell.

Another thing I could not stop admiring was the visuals. I must appreciate the effects of Gareth Edwards , because really created a well detailed world. The cinematography was great , the special effects, the landscapes, futuristic buildings, the Military technology and the robot are all fantastic. And again, the different AI design in the movie made the world feel believable. I was impressed with the way everything look like and I can’t count how many times I caught myself admiring the scenery.
Of course, I have a few issues with some part of the movie. Even though I enjoyed the movie, some part of it left me confuse. I was actually curious why certain characters did not make a different choice. Maybe or just maybe I missed something, or maybe perhaps I need to watch it again, but a few moments didn’t completely add up for me. I also feel that some part of the movie was somehow rushed
Still, I will not call it a bad movie. Not even close to one. I enjoyed the action, the emotional moments and the visuals were breathtaking. So if you’re the type that love Sci-fi movie, I think The Creator is worth watching.
