This movie is one inspiring one you know, and I didn’t watch it on my PC like I always do, I watched it in a church movie night gathering. The fact I got to experience this movie not just as a story but as a message made it even more touching for me, and even if I watched it on my own, this story was no less interesting and inspiring. Even more inspiring because it was a true life story that showed the biography of William Kamkwamba a young inventor from Malawi who helped his small village in a time of intense need through his little inventions. What strikes me the most in this movie is how someone can make do of what they have available to them. Things a lot of people never considered were the things another person saw and was able to put it to good use. But most of all, this movie portrayed the gain of good education, not just because he went to school, but he decided to teach himself to be creative enough to really make a positive change with the knowledge of physics.

William is a scholar who believes in machines, but his father thinks otherwise. As a farmer his father believed that they can’t survive except through farming and this made it difficult for him to always impress his father as William wanted to study while his father wanted him to be a man and work in the farm. But when a heavy rainfall destroys their farmland lending to a devastating drought, it becomes almost impossible to farm and thus feed. This affects even Williams' education as he is later expelled from school. Even his dog died as a result of starvation and his family started eating from hand to mouth. For William however, even after being expelled, he still snuck into the school library to read and there he discovered a book called Using Energy. He learns the mechanics of how a windmill can generate electricity and then thought of a way to create a windmill that would be used to generate electricity to power a water pump.

But then there was a big issue, because in order for Williams' idea to work locally, he needed to use his fathers bicycle. Although he knew his idea would work, his father did not believe in him enough to sacrifice his only possession for an experiment he could not phantom. This caused a big issue between him and his father until his mother had to step in when things were going from bad to worse. His father finally released his bicycle and put a little faith in his son's ability and then William with the help of his friends and other villagers began to build with scraps. Slowly and steadily the project became a success and the village that was forgotten by the government and left to rot in drought finally had hope of farming again. It was really inspiring as the story took us through every phase and every emotion and I must say, it was a really good one.
