Have you ever been in critical situations when you were supposed to just help someone out, and then along the way, you guys started talking? From there, you became close friends, and from there, you both started having feelings for each other. Well, I think personally, I have been there before, and I know some people who would have. Now let's dive into the review, and I will be as honest as possible here.

Early this month, this movie was recommended to me by a lady; most of my movies are through recommendations, which I have been loving, by the way. The movie People We Meet on Vacation was released this year; I don't know the month, but it is a romantic movie filled with small heartbreak and a bit of comedy. A balance, I guess.

The story circles round Poppy, should I call her a walkerholic, but she is a restless travel writer , and Tom Blythe is a young guy who prefers his routine and plans over doing something spontaneous. Both met during a holiday travel, and along the way, they became friends, even though at first it was looking like they were not understanding each other. And they decided that they will be meeting each year for a week vacation together, no matter where they are. However, their decade-long friendship was paused due to the fact that Alex proposed to another lady knowing fully well that Poppy had fallen for him, but he just wanted them to remain friends, nothing more.
The movie moves between their past trips together and their present attempt to fix what was broken when they both accidentally met again at the airport.
If you are a fan of opposites attract setups, this hits that formula for you comfortably because Alex, as a guy, always works on a plan, and Poopy, on the other hand, chases chaos and spontaneity. And at some point in the movie, I got to realize that despite all the other characters. These two were the engine of the film because they found a way to balance each other slowly even though their friendship was never quite platonic.

These two contributed greatly with their individual strong performances to this movie, which is the major reason I will recommend it. They built a very clean, not-rushing cinematic screen chemistry even though it felt like things around them were falling apart at some point.
Though the film might not have a very fast start you want due to how it began, but trust me it was a good watch for me. It was well acted, and it is a movie I will recommend on a Sunday like this as you prepare for work. Good for a comfort watch, not a movie you'll think about a week later.
