[TV] Mara Clara Season 2: When Knowing the Truth Changes Nothing

Watching the season two of Mara and Clara, I saw there was quite some difference from what I watched in the season one. Though all the characters were still the same, but all the things that were like secrets started coming into the limelight. The true identity of who Mara and Clara were has already been revealed unto them. And I saw how they handled knowing who their biological parents were because it wasn't something so pleasant for them..

I saw how Mara struggled to find her place in her real parents house, the Del Valle family, while reality hit Clara so hard because the security, protection and the wealthy lifestyle she thought she had was no longer hers.

One thing I liked and admired about Mara was that despite knowing her new identity, her character didn't change, which made me care more about her than anything else. But in this season, I was a bit also concerned about Clara because she was no longer this spoiled girl always bullying Mara that I watched in the first season. In this season, she seems to be very afraid because she started losing everything she grew up believing she had. But a lot of her choices she made after, I don't think I agree with some of them, but I totally understand where she was coming from. So, a lot of her choices were complicated in a way.

For me, I still like how Mara maintained her relationship with Susan even after she finally knew the truth. The bond she shared from the previous season with her was still there, and it didn't suddenly disappear. And this is something I so much appreciated that they did in this movie because the motherhood bond they had didn't just vanish because of the DNA results. Susan raised Mara even though it was Alvira who gave birth to her. And the story kept on trying to prove that, if that were important.

Even though some of the characters I didn't so much like in the previous season, I liked them in this season, but for, Gary was still a character I so dislike because he didn't change while others did. He became more controlling and always wanted what he didn't work for. And his bad action led to his death, while Susan did while she was trying to protect Alvira. That scene was so important for me because Susan finally took a decision after she had spent a lot of years enduring his bad behaviors, and she reached a point where protecting someone mattered to her more than still living under his shadow of fear.

What I observed about this season was that even after the truth was revealed, the conflict grew bigger than even when Mara and Clara were switched at birth. And another conflict showed up. And another death attempt on Mara life was show, and I also saw how Clara became so much swallowed in her anger. And the way Henry manipulated her also pushed her into more hatred, and she finally broke down psychologically.

And in this season, I saw how they unnecessarily overdid the suffering. Because even before there was a permanent solution before some earlier plot, another problem like accident, betrayal, revenge has already resurfaced. I saw that some stories were not necessarily need too which made the season more stretched instead of making me to feel emotional invested. And I don't like how this season made Clara to be so overwhelmed to the extent of becoming more bitter after the truth was revealed.

But still, I won't pretend that I didn't enjoy the enjoyable scenes in this movies because it shows how the truth can fix a lot of things. And sometimes, the truth can be to big for some people to deal with such like Clara. Despite all that, it's still a 8.0/10 for me because I love the family stories and hie dramatic some characters were.
