Is Yoo Bo-na a killer, a hero, or both?

When I first started watching A.Bona
.Fide.Killer, I honestly didn't think I would see it to the end tho

I looked at the title and thought, Okay, let's see how long this one keeps me interested. I was almost expecting it to be one of those dramas where you watch a few episodes, get bored, and quietly move on to something else.

But somehow, I followed Yoo Bo-na all the way to Episode 14.

And after watching Episodes 13 and 14, I have even much more questions than I had when I started.

Because seriously, who is Yoo Bo-na?

Is she a loving wife and mother who happens to have a dangerous secret? Is she a professional killer who has convinced herself that what she does is justice? Or is it that she is genuinely trying to do what the law cannot? Okay...

That is the question that kept coming back to me throughout this drama.

On the surface, Bo-na looks like an ordinary working woman, she has a husband she loves, a child she adores, and a family she desperately wants to protect. After being away for three years, she returns to work and tries to settle back into normal life. But can she maintains this duo personality

But Bo-na has another identity whuch we now know as the Kingfisher.

A mysterious assassin who eliminates dangerous criminals who have escaped justice and this is where things become interesting.

Because how do you go from being someone's loving wife in the morning to an assassin at night?

Does Bo-na actually enjoy killing or does she hate what she has to do but believes someone has to do it?

And remember that moment when one of her colleagues that is Assistant Ki, pointed out that Bo-na hates the sight of blood?

I couldn't stop thinking about that, I mean, if she is such a skilled killer, why does she hate blood?

Why does she prefer sniping from a distance? Is that simply her professional method, or is it because she doesn't want to get close enough to see the consequences of what she's doing?

And then there is her family, her husband, Kwon Tae-sung, loves her so much that he can't do anything without her. Their daughter loves her too and Bo-na would do almost anything to keep them safe.

Imagine that, hmmm

The man trying to uncover the identity of Kingfisher is sleeping beside Kingfisher every night.

How long could a marriage survive a secret like that?

And what happens when a husband begins looking at his wife's actions differently?

That was one of the things I loved about this drama. Tae-sung doesn't just have to ask, “Is my wife Kingfisher?”

He has to ask: "If she is Kingfisher, can I still love her? And if he does love her, can he forgive her?"

Then we have the mother-in-law, and honestly, this woman deserves her own discussion. 😂

Bo-na didn't walk into her husband's family and received a warm welcome, her mother-in-law, Ok-ja, gave her a hard time, and Bo-na had to endure the kind of family tension that many viewers will immediately recognize.

But then something changes.

When Ok-ja becomes a victim of a voice-phishing scam, Bo-na uses her skills to help her.

And suddenly, the woman who had been giving her a hard time starts seeing her differently.

But here's my question, did Bo-na finally win her mother-in-law's approval because she was a good daughter-in-law to get the scammer? or is it because nobody knew how dangerous she really was?

Because if Ok-ja knew the truth about Kingfisher, would she still look at Bo-na the same way?

That is the irony of Bo-na's life

Everyone around her is forming opinions about her without knowing the whole story and then we meet the members of her team.

You have the fighters, the hackers, the medical support and then there's Oh Hyun-nam, the poison specialist.

At first, she seems like another skilled member of the team. But her connection to Bo-na goes much deeper.

Bo-na had saved Hyun-nam in the past from her violent father and Hyun-nam had grown up looking at her almost like a hero, but what happens when the person you idolized suddenly becomes an ordinary woman with a husband and child?

Hyun-nam felt betrayed that she's living and ordinary life

Did she want Kingfisher to remain the legendary figure she remembered? What happens when admiration turns into something much darker?

Then comes the poisoning storyline

Hyun-nam knows exactly what she's doing, and when poison becomes part of the plan, forcing Bo-na into an impossible situation.

And this is another moment where I had to ask myself, how far would Bo-na go to save her husband? Would she sacrifice herself?

And then she does something that tells us exactly how much Tae-sung means to her. Just when you think the biggest mystery has been solved, another one appears.

Someone starts copying Kingfisher, who is this person? Is it Sergei or Se Ah?

Why are they copying Bo-na's killing methods and why are they changing the way Kingfisher kills?

Are they trying to create another Kingfisher or are they deliberately trying to make the public hate the real one?

Even I, I was confused cause Kingfisher normally leaves no evidence, why would someone suddenly start leaving a trail that points back to her?

Is someone trying to frame Bo-na?

Then came Layla

And suddenly, so many things started making sense.

Layla knows Bo-na too well, including her past and her methods of operations and more importantly, she knows exactly where to hurt her (her Achilles heels)

Leila doesn't just want Bo-na dead, she wants Bo-na to lose everything, her family, her husband, her reputation and her identity.

And that brings us to perhaps the biggest question of the entire drama, that's the difference between Bo-na and Leila?

Yes, they're both killers and they both know how to take a life and have blood on their hands.

So why does Bo-na believe she is different?

Is it because her motive is justice or is it because she kills to protect people or is it because she loves her family?

Oh my God, Tae-sung is getting closer and closer to the truth.

But what happens when the journalist investigating Kingfisher finally discovers that Kingfisher is his wife?

Will he expose her or protect her?

Will he decide that the woman he loves is more important than the truth he's been chasing?

And if he stays with her, does that make him an accomplice?

And the police are still trying to understand exactly who Kingfisher is and what motivates her.

But even after the finale, I'm still asking, can Bo-na ever live a normal life again?

Can Tae-sung trust her, can their marriage survive the truth, will her daughter ever understand the woman her mother really is?

Will Bo-na continue being Kingfisher?

And if she stops, who will protect the people the law fails to protect?

Most importantly, was Yoo Bo-na actually a hero all along or was she simply a killer with a reason?

That's the question I want everyone who watches this drama to answer.

Because A.Bona.Fide.Killer isn't just about finding out who is killing.

It's about discovering why they are killing and whether the reason is enough to forgive them.

And if you haven't watched it yet, I'm honestly not going to spoil everything for you.

Because some of these questions are much better answered by watching the drama yourself.
