Simulation Diaries: Mafia Queen or Secret Agent?

Quite the dilemma the cases we have to simulate ourselves into solving this week 😂

Case 1:

You’ve lived an average life up until today, your 20th birthday. You just found out that your dad is the runaway son of a doting criminal warlord, and your mom is the daughter of an equally doting secret agent. Both family businesses are looking to make you the next heir. What do you do?

So, it’s a sunny afternoon, right? My girls and I have been planning for weeks. It’s my big 20th birthday, sleepover, lingerie party, the works. I’m decorating the room when I suddenly receive an encrypted message… coded with my birth date. I open it, and oh wow, plot twist of the century. I’m still processing that when, as if it’s some Netflix show, I get another message. This time, from my grandfather: a literal mafia lord. Turns out my dad’s been hiding his own legacy too. And they want me to take over the family business.

You’re joking. Two secret bloodlines. One very confused birthday girl. What do I do?

Honestly? As tempting as the agent life sounds (I mean, undercover work, disguises, sneaking into five-star hotels to catch high-profile criminals? Please!), being a mafia queen? Wild. Especially for someone who grew up crushing on fantasy mafia love stories. You know the ones where the female lead gets kidnapped by a brooding mafia boss? Only this time, I get to be the boss.

And now I’m wondering… why not both? I’d call a meeting with both families and tell them: “If you want me, I’m coming with my own rules.” We'll operate separately, but under me. Win-win. Rule one: No harm to women, kids, or innocent people. Ever."

Now, the rational part of my brain is like, “Girl, be for real, mafia folk don’t follow rules.” But fictional me? She’s making it work.

Because what’s better than a 20-year-old who can shoot a target 10 meters away? A 20-year-old who can also command loyalty in a room full of criminals and agents. That’s right. Dual queen energy.

Case 2:

You realize that you’ve fallen out of love with your new wife/husband a year after marriage. How do you react, and what's the next action for you?

Wow. This one stings. It’s honestly a sad but very real situation for many couples today. If you fall out of love just a year after marriage, when the honeymoon phase is supposed to be in full swing, doesn’t that raise the question: Was it ever really love? But let’s not get sidetracked.

Let’s say this actually happens. Here’s what I’d do.

I’m a solution-first type of person. So the first thing I’m doing is trying to find the root cause. Like, how did I love this person enough to marry them, and now I feel… nothing? If I can’t figure it out myself, I’m calling a professional. Yes, we’re booking a therapist. Immediately.

Because I don’t like hurting people, I’d probably spend a while pretending like everything’s okay while privately trying to fix what’s broken. Not ideal, but very me.

Once I pinpoint the issue, maybe silent resentment, maybe emotional distance, I’d sit with it. Then I’d open the conversation with my partner.
Not casually, not in passing. A real talk. Heart on the table.

I believe so deeply in communication. I truly don’t think there’s anything, big or small, that can’t be handled if both parties are willing to talk, listen, and try. If the problem is something like neglect, lack of intentionality, or unspoken expectations, we talk, we realign, we spark things back up.

But….If it turns out the love was never real, just infatuation, or if something truly unfixable has happened, then we talk again. This time, about parting ways. Kindly. Peacefully. With mutual understanding. Because I’d rather protect our mental, emotional, and spiritual health separately… than watch two wounded people bleed out trying to love each other.

Your Honor, that concludes my case simulations for the week. 😂 Your turn! What would you do in either of these situations?
