I don't have plans for owanbe today though but there's an owanbe I actually went for that can't seem to leave my head. Like a memory for life o πŸ˜‚
Back then, I went on an event with my boss for a wedding decoration and after we were done on the day of the event, we were given a table to sit in with the other team members and we were served deliciously enticingly and graviously πŸ˜„. Probably because it's a family thing and that's why we could be entertained and given a table but then it was my first time of taking salad oo wahalaaad πŸ˜‚ I should have just ate Abula Amala Ejire jejely

Na running stomach and visitation to toilet make me comot the party that day and tommy no rest till the next day so since then I have the Phobia for salad and won't take it outside except I'm indoors in case πŸ˜†

I remember attending a training in maitama Abuja, all the food they served us was very foreign to me, because I was hungry I chose one that had rice in it. Omo come and see me praying inside the bus to get home safely so as not to poo on my body πŸ˜‚πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

All these grammarians ehn πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

You see anything amala or swallows, I am picky at any event except for parties hosted by a real close friend or my family. I don't like eating swallows outside like that.

Hello guys!
Today is local government election in Lagos. For me, I don't think there is any reason to vote especially in APC dominating Lagos.

Two years ago, I attended one Owanbe in one town called Epe in Lagos. My colleague's mother was celebrating her 70th birthday. His older brother was a local government chairman and the other a council manager in one of the local government area in Lagos. So, you can guess that it was a huge party.

When I arrived at the venue with two of my other colleagues, how host welded us and led us to a special sit where we were served sauced lobsters with red wine. It was an appetizer from what I later learned. Seriously, at the moment we knew we were in for a very sumptuous treat.

Moments later, a waiter came to ask for what we cared to eat. The menu list was long that at first I got confused in making a choice. I later resolved for Amaka with Gbegiri and fresh fish soup.

Others made their request from the menu but I was served first. When my dish arrived, everyone around us and my colleagues decided to go for what I was served.

Before we finished eating, the waiters started bombarding our table with bottles of beer, red wine, champagne. When other guys who were seated around us saw that we were given preferential treatment, they decided to join us.

I watched closely how the guys sipped from their tumbler of beer, it was glaring that they had gotten tipsy. Then, we started debating about football, politics and academics. It was indeed a great outing.

Finally, before we left the venue, our host distributed different kind of souvenir to us. Towel, handkerchief, detergent, hand fans, noodles, cutleries and toilet papers. I went back home that day with a lot of souvenir. I learned that day that when it comes to Owanbe, the Ijebu people does it better.

Hahaha. Ijebu no dey carry last. Lol
You guys were treated so well and I like such kind of party where everyone goes home with satisfactory mind and stomach. Lol
Hehehe. Imagine those plenty souvenirs you went home with.

I don't have any serious plans for today apart from my normal routine. I am not really an owanbe person, I was supposed to attend a wedding last week Saturday but changed my mind at the dying minute.

One wedding that has been living in my head rent free was that of a relative I attended in 2020.

Before I continue let me advise you people, if anyone gets to invite you to a wedding in the village then after getting to the village the village says it's inside the village, omo don't attend.

It was a relatives wedding, after getting to the village we were told that it's inside another village that means the village we were in was the town, omo I changed to red color because of how dusty the road was before we got to this village at night. My whole body was aching because of how bad the road was. Since most of us were looking like frustrated masquerades, we asked for water to take our bath, they told us it's just one well they have we will have to wait till early hours for morning when the water must have settled down before we can fetch water. Oya na show us our room to sleep, we almost tour the whole village, going from house to house looking for free space to sleep.

The following day we were thirsty, we needed water to drink they said, it's from that well. Omo I suffer no be small, we waited till when they were decorating the place for reception, and I asked one of them to please give me water to drink and I was told it's only 1 pack of water they have and it's for people on the high table.

Omo, I almost died that day from thirst.

After this wedding it's only one wedding I have attended in 2022 till date. I no like stress abeg

This is both hilarious and pitiful. You went from village to village plus another tour around the village for a place to lay your head. Sorry 🀣 But your host didn't try at all or wasn't she expecting people to attend? Nothing go ever make me attend any event hosted by such person again.

The last Owanbe parry I went was last year December - at my friend's wedding. I really enjoyed the time. I was part of the bridal train, helped the bride who is my friend to pick money sprayed for her because according to her, she doesn't trust any of her siblings or other friends πŸ˜„πŸ˜„ I actually enjoyed it because it was fun especially having to pick money at the reception with lots of people coming to spray the couple money. The money, when I counted it was over 50k, though some did transfers.

It was an amazing time out there, not for me who don't like going out. It took me weeks to finally decide going because I'd try coming up with different excuses not to come but there was no way I could avoid it. But it turned out great.

@nkemakonam89 @funshee @toluwanih @fashtioluwa where una dey? Come yarn una own oo πŸ˜ƒ

Chai...that owambe I went that I can't forget still dey pain me till date , because imagine craving for hot party jollof rice and just before it got to my turn , rice finished , not even another type of food

Like , we even sew cloth for this wedding oo

I.spent my hard earned HBDs, buying the material and sewing it..then bought yummy gift for the bride ...I was well prepared !

Infact , I didn't eat food while leaving my house because I needed to make room in my stomach where the party jollof go fit enter ...only for me to get disappointed

I was angry ..I no go lie oo πŸ˜ƒ

Going home, traffic everywhere ...no vehicle at all..even if I see vehicle , e no dey move an inch because traffic tie wrapper..pple resorted to trekking and I followed suit..lol

We started trekking it...for two hours, I was trekking on the road with empty stomach and with my shoes in my hands because the heel is much to do the trekking

I have a birthday party at church to attend tomorrow but today I was indoors due to the movement restriction curfew fo local government elections held today.

But as a party-buddy, I recall an owambe I went to last year and it was a lovely expecrience.

There was enough party jollof rice, fried chicken and malt. Owambe's are fun o especially when you were not directly invited πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
