Good day, people of Hive! Welcome to my blog. Today's topic is from Hive-Naija, so let's dive in.
If thereās something I can do conveniently, itās dancing. To be honest, Iāve never gone to any dance class before to learn how to dance. Although sometimes when Iām scrolling through TikTok and I see people dancing, I catch up with their dance steps, which has really helped me. People close to me who know I can dance are sometimes surprised at how fast I learn the steps.
Sometimes I can just be sitting and listening to music, and the next thing I know, my body starts moving on its own, especially if the song and the beat are good.
Some people always say if someone can do a skill perfectly without learning it, itās a talent and I totally agree. Iāve loved dancing ever since I was small, and it has always made me happy. I can dance for a long time without getting tired. Even my roommate and some of my cousins always tell me to teach them how to dance, but I donāt really know how to teach. The only way they can learn is by watching me while I dance and copying my stepsāthatās it.
But hereās the funny part, even though I love dancing and I can dance (not like Iām perfect), Iām very shy when it comes to dancing in public. I donāt even know why. Itās not like Iām scared that people will laugh or mock me, I just donāt like being watched while dancing. The moment I notice people are looking at me, I suddenly become shy and lose interest.
So instead of dancing in public, I prefer to dance in private, especially in my room where nobody is watching. Thatās where Iām free to dance the way I want, no fear of being watched. I just play my favorite songs, close my door, and start dancing like I just received an alert of a huge amount of money. Sometimes I even record myself dancing, just for fun or to see how good I am. And honestly, when I watch the videos, Iām always surprised at my own steps. There are moments while dancing when I start doing moves I didnāt even know I could do.
I always tell my friends that I can dance, but some of them donāt believe me, they think Iām just bluffing. Only the ones whoāve seen my dancing videos believe me.
There was a time I was dancing in my compound without knowing one of my neighbours was watching me, until she came to meet me, saying she didnāt know I could dance that well. Even my roommate keeps encouraging me to start posting my dance videos on my TikTok account since I love dancing. She believes people will definitely follow me, but I told her Iām not really interested.
Sometimes I wish I had the confidence to dance freely in public like others do, but Iām just too shy to come out and dance. I hate the feeling of too many people looking at me, thatās what I always try to avoid. But Iām trying to build my confidence little by little. I know I have the talent for dancing, I just need to overcome my shyness.
In conclusion, dancing is something I never learned from any class. I just taught myself, and thatās why I find it so easy to do. Dancing brings me joy and makes me feel good about myself. Iām proud of my dancing talent, and maybe one day, Iāll overcome my shyness and dance freely in public.

Maybe you won't be shy if you're in a group dance. Try to form a group and dance with themš
That's it, I always run from group dance. Maybe I will follow this your advice so that I can boost my confidence. Thank you.
If you dance for some time in public, you might gradually overcome your shyness.
I love dancing but I'm not a great dancer lol š
You're right, thank you.
I am not a shy person when It comes to dancing, I can dance in public if the timing and the beat makes sense to me, but my junior brother doesn't dance publicly, he is also a shy person. Maybe you will one day
Yes, I hope to he able to dance in public to showcase my talent. That means me and your brother are shy person to dance in public.
I am actually one person who also love to dance in private a lot of times especially in my own room or even in the parlour but there is just this more fun that comes with dancing in public or in socially gatherings. Maybe you should try it out and see for yourself.
Yes, there's this feeling of you dancing in public. People seeing you and would like wowww, this person is a good dancer. Ilove things that. I pray I overcome my shyness.
I am telling you. Even dancers make a lot of money, and if you showcase that talent, there might be people who would be willing to help you. In life, you don't know where success would come from.
If you love dancing so well, you can just tried dancing in public!
