A New Dawn After the Storm

A lot of times we hear this statement, "Life is not fair", but then, when we look deeply, we will realize that we are our problems in this life. Unhealthy competitions here and there, which lead some people into plotting evils against one another. Only if we can realize that this life is vanity upon vanity can we begin to adjust to a certain way of life for our own good.

A few years ago, my husband lost his job over issues he didn't know where they emanated from. His image and reputation were in line. He used to be the head of engineers in his company and earned respect from his colleagues not really because of his position but mainly because of his job experience. The company can't start up a new project without him being on the ground to lay the foundation for other engineers to continue from there.

However, the company has policies guiding them; it's expected! But then, my husband was trying his best to see that he doesn't go against the company policies. So one day, he was summoned to the office over breaking one of the main policies of his company. He didn't know where the whole issue came from, and as he said all the truth he knows about the matter to defend himself, it proved difficult. A fellow engineer impersonated him and worked with another developer bearing my husband's name instead of his name. The company called the developer, and the man confirmed that the engineer he is working with is Engineer Uche, which is my husband's name. Meanwhile, it was a setup...a planned deal. Hubby told the company that he doesn't even know such a developer, but no one believed him.

He was embarrassed and spoken ill of. Imagine a head engineer who should control others going at the back to pull the company down and many ill talks against him. The embarrassment made his workers lose the respect they had for him, and they kept talking to him anyhow; he was depressed. Finally, he was removed from the Engineers WhatsApp group and called to visit the office for his termination letter.

That period of his life was very worrisome. Emotionally and physically, he was going down; all my effort to put him in order proved abortive. Imagine suffering for what you know nothing about. The feeling can be quite demoralizing, but I remained in the place of prayer, interceding on his behalf.

One year after, the truth was unveiled! Somehow, the main engineer who impersonated my husband was caught, and he spoke the truth of the past and confessed how jealous he was seeing my husband waxing stronger than him in the same company. Of course he wanted to be the head engineer like my husband, and he did and reigned for one year before the truth was discovered. As expected, he was fired!!!, only for my husband to wake up to the news that his impersonator has been uncovered, followed by an apology letter and an offer of a massive project in Enugu to handle if he wishes.

It was one of the best pieces of news of his life, especially the fact that his dented image in the company will be rebuilt. Truth can change many things; it did for him, and so far, the project awarded to him has brought a lot of changes for our family.
