It happens to us all.... doesn't it?
I think it does anyway, and as I am writing this post, that counts!. Mind you people call it a multitude of names ...
For example ...
The Procrastination Pit, the Creative Constipation and then what about the Editing Loop you know where you overthinkers keep on editing because it is not quite 100% perfect!
Get a fluffing grip and learn about the 80/20 rule or Pareto's principle! I love Pareto so much that I actually did my Knowledge Management Masters thesis on it!
This is @tengolotodo authoring our post today.
Ironically when I suffer from writer's block on my main Hive account I come here to alleviate it if I can't touch grass.
When writer's block strikes at the MMO office....
Tengo: You do it
Deraa: No You do it
Tengo: I can't be arsed
Deraa: Neither can I
Tengo: Aww fluff it, I'll do it then!
Between Real Life and other accounts on Hive, it can be a struggle to write, especially when your off web3 work involves writing as well!
So how do we manage it.
If you read my recent post Don't Forget to Touch Grass then you really will know the importance I place on getting outside and getting some fresh air or as it is called now Touching grass.
So I shall not dwell too much on that! In fact, I shall dwell no more on it.
Writer's Block of course is that dreaded state of mind when the words just won't flow. You tried everything and no matter how hard you try. Your brain has gone on vacation without telling you, leaving you stranded in a sea of blank pages.
So I shall reveal a couple of remedies apart from touching grass of course as that is remedy number 1!
Expected Time of Arrival ... What the fluff are you going on about now Tengo I hear you shouting from the back row!
But no, not that ETA this ETA...
I think I am a bit of a nutcase. When I use to interview people I would throw random questions in there that had nothing to do with the job just to see how people reacted...
Imagine you are having your interview, when up pops this nutter .....
So what do you think about the price of eggs?
or
Fluffing nora bananas have come down in price yet again, why is that?
I used to love seeing what people would do!
Back to our writers block .... sometimes ... the best way to jumpstart your creativity is to shake things up a bit.
Try writing a poem about your toaster. I wrote a story about a table an I loved it, I really got into it and in no time I had words flowing all over the fluffing place!
Why not write a short story from the perspective of your pet rock, or a pen rap battle between your two favorite inanimate objects.
Just look around you and you will see that the options are endless!
Who knows, you might surprise yourself with the results!
Channel Your Inner Child
Do you have an active imagination? If you are like me, then you will have. So why not harness it?
That is a great way to break down writer's block.
Do you remember those carefree days when you could spend hours building magical sandcastles or concocting fantastical stories?
Well then, you need to tap into that childlike sense of wonder and playfulness.
Let your imagination run wild
Don't judge ... Don't self-criticise.
You might be surprised at the creative sparks that ignite.
Last but not least ...
Writer's block happens to the best of us (even me chipped in @deraaa) . It's not a reflection of your talent or ability. It's simply a temporary roadblock on your creative journey. So don't beat yourself up about it. Take a deep breath and try one or all of my tips.
Don't worry the words will come eventually.
Thank me later!
This is in response to the March INLEO initiative for day 26.
#marchinleo Day 26! Hive Naija asks: How do you deal with writers block?

The blank page syndrome, or writer's drought, can come at the most unexpected times. The idea is, like a relationship between lovers, to let things flow, not to force anything, not to rush anything. Reading a good book, walking, can serve to inspire. Some well-known writers talk about having a schedule and a place to write, others talk about writing down ideas (having a bank of ideas) and then developing them. What is true is that even the best rooster loses its song and even the best writer is abandoned by the muses. An excellent topic today! Regards

I love this analogy Nancy. It reminds me of someone who said making love is like play pool, sometimes you need it to be soft slow gentle and caressing, yet other times, fluffing hard and fast!
This is @tengolotodo authoring our post today. I know, as long as 'fluffing' is involved, lols.
Learned something about that ETA, sometimes raising strange question can bring an event or a positive conversation that triggers a good writing in the end. Just wondering what an interviewer would do if I asked him about the current price of egg? Ok, I'll loose the job but probably have something to write on.
You know, if I was the interviewer, the odds are that you would get the job! It shows you think outside the box, you are different.
Companies need all kinds of people. Having the same mentality is not desirable in my mind!
Smart thinking Mr Tengo. Happy new month
