A Cousin's Convocation: Highlights And Memories

I could almost say I saw this prompt coming so I went for a party recently that I can write about now. But obviously, I didn't know there would be a prompt like this and it came just around the time I had one of the best response for it. Months until last week Friday, I was mostly at home with no party invitation or memories to share like now.

Going for this party wasn't in my plans if I am being honest, my mum was the one invited as her favorite aunt and I wasn't feeling so well to be out for too long so I thought mum would go alone until the next to the big day. Well, I considered so many things especially the fact that I'll be seeing my cousins after a long while if I decided to go.

Last week's Friday was my Cousin's Convocation day, and I did her the honour of attending alongside my mum and younger Bro. She wasn't expecting to see me as she thought only my mum was in the state at that time. So it came as a surprise for her when she saw my Bro and I, I could still remember the excitement on her face.

That day was the second time I was seeing my cousins, I mean, cousins from my eldest aunt in my mum's family. She has six children but I only got to see three of them which was more than enough for a party I almost didn't attend. Imagine meeting far distant family members (cousins) but bonding right away like we were never apart.

Although I'll owe that to one of my cousins who is more jovial than the rest of us. The whole event was more lively because of her and many bonding stories. I could bet we didn't say as much about the convocation as we did about every other thing. Our celebrant, my graduated cousin couldn't stop smiling and feeling happy.

We had a photography session and it was one of the most hilarious activity of that day. We couldn't stop laughing at the similar postures of our celebrant until a camera man decided to give free shots and showed her some new postures. I guess she was tensed about her big day because usually, she was more confident around people and also loves taking pictures.

My mum, Bro and I also got on a picture with her and she kinda claimed my mum as her mum that day, her sick mum wasn't able to stay long enough for pictures. No, I wasn't jealous, I was just glad to see my mum being their best aunt and we laughed to it. Precious, the third daughter and fifth child is the first graduate in her family.

Mum couldn't stop stating that fact in my ears alone as she was so happy for her sister after all the struggles they have been through to make something out of all the children, my other cousins. A lot has happened that would make anyone involved cry but that day kinda turned the whole thing into joy in our hearts in gratitude.

And to the main part of that big day was visiting my aunt when we left the school (event place). It happened to be her birthday too, a double celebration indeed. Even though my aunt was super happy to see my Bro and I, it still felt like she couldn't see anyone else aside her younger sister who she had not seen for a long while. They both got into a long talk and I just listened.

We had a round table of drinks at a bar close to my aunt's shop and chatted away while we drank what aunt offered. That day has become one of the days I will not forget in a long time because I got to see faces I didn't know I've been missing especially my eldest cousin, that guy's face is very rare lol. So rate my cousin's attire for the day.
