There are some things I know how to do today that even me, I still ask myself, “how did I learn this?” Because if I’m being honest, I was never taught, I never went for any form of training, but I just find myself doing them perfectly. It’s almost like a gift I didn’t ask for, but God just decided to bless me with.
One of the shocking ones is sports. I know how to play more than three different sports, and not just the normal way, I mean I play them well, like someone that actually went through serious training. Starting from football, table tennis, and basketball, I can proudly say I play all three very well. Football has always been like second nature to me. From a very young age, I just picked it up. Nobody taught me how to dribble, defend, or even how to strike the ball in a way that looks so professional. I just started doing it, and when people watch me play, they always assume I play for a team or I’ve had some coaching experience. It shocks them when I say no, that I’ve never been trained. The same goes for table tennis. The first time I held a bat, it didn’t feel new. I started playing and before I knew it, I was beating people who have been playing long before me. Same thing with basketball, I may not be the tallest on court, but my skill speaks for itself.
Apart from sports, another area I find this "God given" ability is with electrical gadgets. I know how to fix things, like television, fan, pressing iron, and even generator. This one always surprises people around me the most. You’ll see something that’s not working, people have tried to repair it and failed, then I will just go close to it, study it small, then figure out the problem and fix it like I was trained in electronics or something. But truth is, I was never taught. It just comes naturally. Even when I don’t know how something works, once I open it and take a proper look, I will just understand it somehow.
I think after football the second thing that I didn't learn how to do and has become a part of me is drawing and writing books, I draw for fun, I even help my classmates in school back then to draw any hard structure or image given to them.
Another one that still surprises me is my ability to mix music. Yes, I know how to DJ. I don’t even know how or where it came from, but I know how to blend songs smoothly, create transitions, and make people dance. One day I just tried it on my phone for fun, before I knew it, people started enjoying what I was mixing. From there, I started practicing more, and now I can proudly say I’m a DJ in my own right. I can handle any event and set the vibe without stress.
And let me not forget, everything I know how to do on the laptop today, I taught myself. From typing, using different software, navigating settings, even basic troubleshooting, I didn’t go to any computer school. I just explored it on my own, made mistakes, corrected myself, and today I can operate it confidently without stress.
When I think about all these things, I just believe some people are born with natural gifts, and I’m lucky to have a few. It doesn’t mean I don’t try to improve or learn more, but the foundation was never taught to me. It came naturally. And in life, sometimes we spend too much time searching for what we can do, while our real talents are just there, hidden inside us. The best thing is to try new things and you might just discover your own hidden ability too.
