Learning never ends…

Whoever came up with the saying "Learning never ends" is definitely a genius because everything about this statement makes a lot of sense.

The older I get the more I learn, unlearn and relearn. Life isn't as it was in 2007, the world is changing and so am I.

Within my short time on earth, I have come to learn a lot of things from my relationships with my friends, family members, and every single person with whom I have crossed paths. These lessons have helped shape me to have a better and healthier relationship with people I meet every day. It's safe to say that I might not have the best relationship with people but, I am still a work in progress, I still don’t have it all figured out yet.

One of the things I have come to learn from my relationship with people is the consequences of oversharing. I used to be that naive girl who could overshare the moment we got comfortable with each other. The way I overshared without caution is the same way I abused the word "Friendship".

Back then I could instantly call you my friend just because of the way you spoke to me, how often we spoke, or how you smiled at me. Since you are my friend and I am comfortable with you it becomes easier to overshare when we are having a conversation.

Once we are talking I'm diving into my memory bank, extracting every damn story of my life, both the ones that have a connection or no connection with whatever we are discussing. All these stories come straight out of my mouth like I was waiting for such a day to become a professional narrator.

Do you know what oversharing does? It exposes your business to a large number of people and over time most of these people may use what you shared with them to hurt you.

You can have decent conversations with your friends but not all information should be out there on the street.

Another lesson I have learnt is learning how to say NO. Once you learn to say No and stand by your "NO", you've unlocked another level of adulthood.

Saying NO is one major issue a lot of people are faced with. To so many, saying NO means hurting the other person while to others saying NO will make other people perceive us as being wicked whichever category you belong to, you have to put yourself first.

Often times we are worried about how other people feel and what they'd say instead of worrying about ourselves first. You say YES and put yourself under unnecessary pressure and you keep beating yourself up for saying YES instead of saying NO, now your in a state of dilemma where you have to do whatever you promised.

Saying NO is very important for your mental health, if you can't do it, politely tell them NO, this saves you a whole lot of stress.

Again, I have come to understand that loving people out of sympathy hurts more than rejecting them from the beginning. It's no news that people end up loving people out of sympathy, in a bid to not hurt them, we end up loving them out of sympathy. Now you hate yourself for pushing through with the relationship and also for hurting your said lover in question.

If you don't love them the way they love you enough to be in a relationship with them kindly let them know from the get-go instead of hurting yourself and hurting them later.

These and many more are the lessons I have learnt so far in life and I’m glad to share them all with you all.

Now you've overshared what you've learnt so far in life. 🤣

You see that act of saying No and standing by it, I learnt it the hard way,. Today I'm glad I did because it has saved me a lot of times.

Learning to say No is very important.

I used to be like the former you a lot. Allowing everyone into my space because they smiled at me or spoke kindly to me and I really over shared. I had to call myself to order after the series of hurts, betrayals and over-familarity became too much to bear.

Now I am better off keeping my mouth sealed and leaving things vague between some levels of friends.

As the saying No part, I am still learning to be firm on standing by No but I know that soon, I will be like Margaret Thatcher 😂😂

Exactly!! This is how it’s supposed to be, not everyone needs to know our business my love.

You're welcome sweetie

I used to have an issue with saying no to people and some took advantage of it. The good thing about life is that we learn from mistakes.

Ohhh yes we sure do😃

That's great lessons so far and I am sure there are still more you didn't cover in this post

It's important for us to know that there should be boundary to certain things... over sharing maybe out of excitement has lead many people to regrets due to its possible negative effect..my hubby was a victim but he learned the hard way

Saying no is very vital...we can't please others and displease ourselves

Also loving out of sympathy...hmm
Let's no go there because it's just not healthy biko
Lol

Ohhh yes! I was a victim of this but now I know better and I'm happy I've gotten to that stage in my life when I can keep quiet.

Thanks for stopping by Ma’am❤️
