The Overlooked Medicine: Two Simple Health Habits That Can Change Your Life Forever

You know what they say about health?
Health is wealth but a a lot of people do not know this until they are down with illness.

Our generation now seems to live in a world where attention is all we scream for on a regular basis. From the overpriced supplement, to body enhancement sugary to flashy fitness showoff, a lot of regular health care check-ups has been preached to us but we have successfully ignored them. But, the most important things are the things we mostly ignore.

Let me take us way back in memory, maybe ancient. Something deeply human but yet simple.

1. The effect of sleeping and its healing power. Sleep is life—Not laziness

In this our present world, a lot of people see sleep as a big deal, as luxury most especially in hustle driven traditions and cultures. ", when I am dead, I will sleep," I guess that is what some people usually say, putting Thier life on the line and over stressing their bodies as if there is a special badge of honour for that. To beg the differ, this is against your soul and what science says.

When we sleep, a lot of healing happens to our body I don't know if you have discovered that or it's only me. Our soul, our brain tends to reset, sync and repair. Studies have shown that if you deprive your body of sleep, it can lead to depression, weight gain, heart disease and even weakened immunity. So, when your body yawn for sleep, sleep and don't deprive yourself productivity.

We always crave for strength, happiness, focus, clear mind, and yet, we deprive our body by not sleeping but rather, we prefer to be scrolling and indulging ourselves in unnecessarily activities. Why is that? Because to a lot of people like I said think that sleeping is indulging in a world that usually reward burn-out. This should not be so, your body needs sleep, so choose it.

2. The ritual behind deep breathing - Self-Presence

Studies have shown that an average human usually breath about 20,000 times in just a single day, but unconsciously, this is what majority of us usually do shallowly. If you can just take 4-5 minutes of your time to breathe deeply and intentionally, you'd see how regulated your hormones will be, how anxiety will reduce, how your digestion will improve, and even how improved your blood pressure would be.

Every single days, even as you are reading this post, try and inhale slowly for about 3-5 seconds, hold your breath for about 3 seconds and then breath out slowly for about 5 seconds. Try this like three times and you will feel how calm your heartbeat will be. It is not abracadabra, it is your body responding.

Breathing is a reminder that we are still a living being. Breathing is always a pause, a feeling of being alive than just functioning, it is us reconnecting.

We usually ignore these two things that I have mentioned above because we attach no importance to them, they didn't come in a flashy package. But trust me, they are foundational before you showing off your six packs and shaking your bumbum online.

We need to return to these simple things yet deeply human and real.

So my lovely readers, give yourself that sleep, it it not too much if you can sleep for 8 hours tonight. Your body needs it, even your soul will wish you well if you do. Sleep like you are in control and breathe with intention.

They say, some medicine do not cost a dime, they are the little things we give to our health. Get rested, get rooted and feel alive.

Thank for reading.
